This place might be the real deal! I was just loosing hope that Sacramento has no good Asian food compared with the bay and then I came to check this place out as I saw it as a recommendation from youtube.
I haven't had a curry beef puff / Jamaican pie since COVID as my Oakland Chinatown favorite bakery Napoleon Super Bakery stopped making them!!! I know it's not difficult to make, but I'm not making it at home. Get the beef over the chicken as it has more intense flavor. Slightly Oily, flaky and crispy. Man that first bite brought me back to a happy place.
Cashier / server speaks English, Cantonese, or Mando they got you covered.
I wish prices were a bit cheaper, but if the rest of the food is as good as the curry puff then this place is truly legit.
They had low selection when I got there so that's good ~ 230/245pm. The chicken feet looked plump and tasty The savory steamed meat items looked huge! I'm excited to take my folks here when they visit from the bay.
I'm use to food constantly steaming so curious how these warmers affect the food. The shrimp dumpling didn't look like it would taste as good as coming hot out the steamer due to warming temperature affecting texture...
Read moreI know I'm late in trying this dim sum take out spot in Pocket. I had errands to run in the area, and it was my opportunity to finally try it.
Even with 3-4 people in front of me. The line moved quickly. I have a weak spot for dim sum and wanted to try everything. I held back and only ordered what I wanted to try first. I saw a handful of tables to dine in, but I think most people order to go.
Vegetable Meat Bun - The bun is fluffy and has a good texture. I would like more meat, but I understand they're trying to make it affordable. 3 for $5.10 or $1.80 each. 4/5
Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings) - Juicy filling and good portion. The outer skin is a bit too thick. 4/5
Egg Tarts - Now, that's the right way to make the crusts. The egg custard is a little too sweet for me, but it's still very good. 5/5
Char Siu (bbq portk) rice roll - I think I had high expectations for this because it looks really good. The rice roll was just done wrong, and the char siu had little to no flavor. 2/5.
Overall, it was a good place to pick up dim sum without a long wait. I would come back to try the baked buns and other dim sum items. AND definitely come back for...
Read moreThis place is such a gem. I pop in any time I’m in the neighborhood and always get the same thing, crispy pork bun and the chive dumplings. Always delicious and wishing I got more. However, today I decided to deviate from my usual order and try the potstickers. Unfortunately, after my first bite I could tell something was off. I took a look inside and saw bright pink pork. I, of course, called the restaurant to inform them of the raw food that was served and consumed. To which, they offered to return the raw item for a replacement or refund. On my way to the location, they called back to inform me they have checked their other potstickers and they were good. When I arrived, I believe the chef or owner approached me to ask about the raw items, which I showed him and he agreed they were indeed raw and “not steamed long enough.” I didn’t want to make a big deal of it or cause a problem and I do appreciate the honesty and integrity to admit fault on their end. I completely understand things happen, but I hope I don’t get...
