I had been away for 10 years. Came back and immediately went to buy carnitas and tamales. Still after 30 years wonderful. However I noticed that the grocery store was now Esperanza Supermarket! So I went in to do some shopping. Great products and shelves full. Upon checkout it was disappointing to hear coworkers 3 exact. Cashier, bag person and another lady possibly the manager. They were all talking about another coworker and saying really mean things about this person in Spanish of course. Ni su Madre le ama was one sentence. Then the young lady bagger was rude and when I said Gracias she just gave me a dirty look. The bags were super heavy as she placed all the canned goods in one bag along with my tomatoes. I couldn't lift the bag into the cart and at 61 years old with a right arm that had been completely crushed. She just watched me struggle. It is hard enough being bullied or gossip about at work by other cultures let alone by your own culture! There are two sides to the story. However nobody should be speaking ill will about another coworker in front of customers. There should be some level of consideration. I will never go back to the supermarket again. I drove all the way from Roseville for my carnitas y tamales. I never thought Esperanza would hire people who are 3 against one. I am only speaking out because I am an advocate for Spanish speaking employees at my place of business. Employees who conduct themselves in this manner especially in front of customers will be reported to me and will be given a warning for the first report if there's a second they will be dismissed. I am not asking for a dismissal just a heads up. Not all customers like that kind of bullying to another employee. Throwing daggers at the...
Read moreGreat Mexican pastry. My only criticism is they do not have a great assortment of Mexican bread all the time. You have to know what time they are baking bread to get a greater assortment of of bread. If you go in the afternoon around 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. there is always a waiting line. So be prepared to wait.(Update 12/30/24) I was passing by and stop to buy some bread. As always a long waiting line. When it was my turn in line the assortment of bread was very limited in choices. They did not have any of the bread that I like. I guess I have bad luck because this seems to be all the time. And the price of the bread keeps going up and up. It cost me $17 for seven pieces of bread and a half gallon of milk. And if you are average worker who gets paid $15 an hour? How many hours do you need to work to buy this? There are Mexican families who bye Mexican bread everyday. They spend an average of $20 everyday. It's becoming a luxury to buy Mexican bread. But as always this is my opinion....
