I was introduced to Vargas tortillas over a half century ago. When I was just a kid, a family friend taught my mom how to make tacos using Vargas tortillas, and I still make them the same way. It was especially difficult when I briefly moved away from Saginaw because I have always lived by a if-there-are-no-Vargas-tortillas-there-are-no-tacos policy for all of these years I am now grateful that my local Kroger carries them, but I have also gone directly to the Vargas bakery to purchase pre-made shells, tortilla chips, and other items. When I go to local restaurants, I always ask if they use Vargas (sort of like most people from Michigan ask if the hot dogs are Koegel brand). We are so lucky to have Vargas.
