We unfortunately went at a bad time- they’re packing up to move to The District, which they did tell us when we first arrived. My friend and I made our candles, but there was only six scents to choose from. I was a little disappointed, but what can you do. They said that usually their process to making the candles is different (she didn’t explain what she meant), but she said that usually they will keep the candles for an hour+, and then you come pick them back up. I think they’d usually keep them to melt the beads that we used to make ours? We walked out with ours, the beads unmelted. I wish they would have offered a discount with how limited the scent options were, though. Anyways, I did ask the girl about a lit candle where all of their scents were. I asked why the candle had the ring around the top, where it didn’t melt. She told me that they probably didn’t let it melt all the way through the first time they lit it, the top layer. She told me to be sure to light it all the way through. I lit mine when I got home the next day (today), and it’s been burning for hours, and it looks the exact same as theirs did, with the ring around it, the unmelted layer. So I’m disappointed with that too. My husband and I can’t even smell the candle as it’s burning. So that is SUPER disappointing. I can literally only smell it if I get really, really close, nose almost in flame. Lol. The girls were very nice, I understand their situation with moving, and I hope they do well with where...
Read moreThe candle-making experience was fun, but everything else was not. First of all, there is so much wasted space, they only have the bar open for candle-making when they have plenty of room for other spaces and tables within the building. But no, just a lot of empty space. Also, because the bar is the only place you can make your candle, it takes forever and we ended up waiting for about half an hour before we could even sit down to start making our candle. When there are peak business times and lots of people in line, it'd be nice if they limited the number of candles/items people can make so they can ensure everyone gets through the experience quicker. It was kind of frustrating to sit and watch people making 2 or 3 things when we were standing and waiting. It would also help a lot of they required an appointment to ensure that they have the space for everyone during different time slots. You also have to rely on the workers to get you everything which slows the process as opposed to other candle making places where you can grab your own oils. Last, after we finally sat down and got helped, we felt like we kind of got rushed along instead of being able to sit and have fun like all the people before us that we had to wait on. I would recommend going, but just go at an off-time so you're not standing around waiting unless you don't mind. Oh, and there were also hardly any options for things to make which was kind of...
Read moreSuch a fun experience! I'd had this screenshotted as a date night idea for a while, and we finally went and had a blast. It's kind of a lot of nose sensory overload at times, but it's fun to pick out scents, try them together, see a significant other make a funny face when a smell isn't necessarily their favorite. There are so many fun smells to choose from: Old Books, leather, tobacco, chardonnay, champagne, bordeaux, coffee, tea (all the drinks haha), BAKED BREAD?! and so many more fun options. Mixing them together is fun too, and we had some great help from the workers. I kind of wish they'd offer to take a picture while mixing it together at the bar, (I think that would just add to the fun and be a nice customer service thing.) because it's kind of a hands on experience, and while you get a candle to take home that additional documentation would be nice. We took a selfie, but not the best angles to get the candle making moment in too. Overall, highly recommend. It's super fun and you get a one-of-a-kind candle to take home. You also get the design your...
