St. Charles River front park. Near the brick roads of Main Street. This park is well taken care of and holds many events throughout the year, including; Little Hills Festival, food truck events, October Fest, and more. MO state park Katy Trail cuts through this park near the road. There are two train cars and an old train depot in the park. The north end of the park has public bathrooms, I think there may be some on the south side too. This park has trees and picnic tables scattered throughout. There is a stage where I've seen free band events. Sometimes I see people in wedding clothes at the park. Parking can be an issue at large events. Another issue I've dealt with is people buying beer inside the park and wanting to leave the park to go to another part of the event (Which also sells beer) be careful if you plan to leave the park with a beer, some may tell you not to, make sure you are nice to the gate person, exspecially if they are an officer, the gate guards get mean fast and don't joke around. (They probably need more breaks from dealling with drunk people) or just to have some one chill, that doesn't lose their temper.
Adding more info: -They don't allow dogs during events. -The Katy Trail runs through this park. -You can visit the Lewis and Clark statue in this park. -The bridge to the Boathouse Museum parking lot was recently replaced and has now been washed out. It is in need of repair, you can still park in this lot, but you'll have to walk around rather than...
Read moreI just moved back to Saint Charles and spent sometime without my Dad in Saint Joseph's... except for last Friday...I still remember why I thought Saint Charles was such a special, once in awhile, weekend drive... it still is magical and quaint as I remember going with my grandparents when they drove from Beaver, PA. My Dad would take us out to this town with brick stones like yesteryear and shops that were just like home... The Hill, and we would take us to the jewelry store where my grandma bought black hills gold and then off to the petal shop for everything I still fancy today. Last, but not least the best Chinese place to offer in all of MO besides the one in Springfield for cashew chicken. This place had that plus garlic and green onion crab rangoon! I loved it so much my Dad even had a maroon tee with golden rod lettering stating I love rangoon! Lol visit its...
Read moreSt. Charles has a superior city park system and Frontier Park is one of the best. You can picnic under the shade of mature trees and watch the Mighty Missouri River flow by. It's also a great venue for music and the many festivals we have here.
This weekend, we celebrate our German heritage with OktoberFest where everyone can be German for the weekend. Bands from Germany play polkas and German Beer Hall drinking songs. Ours is one of the largest and most authentic OktoberFests in the country.
In the spring, we have an Irish Festival, and the same things can be said about that Festival. Everybody who wants to be is Irish for the 3 day weekend. Irish bands and performers, Irish dancers, Irish Sporting games, Green Beer, and all in the park along the Missouri...
