This is my review for my interaction with your staff today. My daughter and I arrived around 7pm. I was asked if we had reservations. I replied we did not. The female replied it would be a 30 minute wait. I asked if we could order to go. She said let me go check if we are doing to go orders. She came back and stated they weren’t doing to go orders. I asked if we (me and my daughter) sit and eat can I order an extra meal and take it with me (I was trying to get something for my husband as well for after work). Might I add her demeanor was not welcoming at all! I said okay thank you and we walked down the steps. Talked it over with my daughter and we decided to just wait thinking 30 minutes wouldn’t be long. So I walked back up, the previous person passed us and helped the people behind us. Another female came and asked was I trying to get a to go order. I stated we would like to go on the waiting list. She said it’s going to be longer than what was previously stated it would now be 40 minutes. I told her that is ok. She proceeded to walk away. I asked do I need to give my number. She said I’m sorry I thought you already gave it. Needless to say I gave my number and it’s now 11pm and there was never a call or text. We waited for a response for a little over an hour. I can’t help but to think that maybe we weren’t the correct fit for your establishment in the eyes of your staff there today starting from the initial contact at the desk. It’s really disappointing because I was bragging on the food from my first visit. The hospitality wasn’t that great either on my first visit but I thought maybe the server was having a bad day now I’m not so sure it had anything to do with a bad day. I can honestly say today me nor my daughter (who’s 13) felt welcomed today. Since we didn’t receive a text back I can only assume we weren’t welcomed. I can say it wasn’t a great feeling. I retired last Friday after serving 30 years in the worlds finest Navy and there is some truth in the statement you will receive more respect in uniform than you will...
Read moreMy husband and I recently went here with some friends! Good food and service. Highly recommend :)
One friend had booked a reservation in advance, which I recommend doing. Upon arrival, we were immediately taken to be seated, even though we were 15 minutes late. The hostess was very gracious and said the crowds can make traffic hard (there was some event/festival going on and Main Street was pedestrian-only). We had to park super far away and speed walk! It was completely worth the trip, but I do advise reserving a spot, especially if there's an event going on. We saw some non-reserved people get turned away from Bella Vino since they weren't allowing walk-ins until 8pm that particular night. Not sure if it was due to how many reservations they had already or due to the crowds/event.. but either way.
Bella Vino is a tapas-style restaurant, meaning that the food is appetizer-like. Very sharable, and the plates just come as they are ready. Our table got some wine, the fondue (pictured), the crab dip, calamari, and we each got some pasta too. I had the tortellini which was FABULOUS! My husband had the chicken marsala-- He said the pasta was phenomenal but the chicken was unfortunately super dry. Our server, Hailey (..Hayley? Hailee?), was delightful. Very attentive and helpful, as most of us had never visited before.
Our group had an amazing time here and I would highly recommend. The bathrooms were clean and the staff all seemed polite and knowledgeable. The building itself is old and full of character! The stairs were a little cramped and steep, but our table area upstairs was roomy and comfortable! The ambiance was a perfect "charming-small-town-autumn" and I would come back again in a heartbeat!...
Read moreQuaint and beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service, reasonable prices. This is our favorite restaurant in all of St. Charles. It's adorable with interior exposed brick walls and a great front and back patio right in the center of Main St. They provide umbrellas, heaters, and blankets so you can still dine outside when the weather isn't great. The food is tapas style, but we often eat things as entrees too. I always bring out of town guests here because I know they will love it, and I've never had a bad experience. They have many vegetarian options for non-meat eaters and they're good enough to satisfy your appetite even if you are a meat eater. If something comes out wrong (very rare) they always make it right. Our friend group has hosted several baby showers and bday meals on the back patio that went wonderfully. I have yet to try something that I don't like, and I think I've tried everything on the menu by now. Great for a date night or just casual family dinner- we even bring the kids and they love it too. You won't break the bank, but you'll get the fine-dining experience and food. Favorites I'd suggest trying: Burundi with risotto (great for sharing with someone as the meal is fairly large), Italian nachos, all the pastas, fried goat cheese, fried goat cheese salad, asparagus salad, all things butternut squash (it's only a seasonal ingredient but whatever the preparation offered a MUST order). Everything is so delicious you can't go wrong. And for the picky kids: flatbread pizza (ask for no basil if your kids are super picky like ours). If you're looking for an impressive dinner experience, need not go to the most expensive place, this one checks...
