Upon arrival it took several moments to be greeted and seated, the staff were polite enough but not very personable. The atmosphere and aesthetics are akin to an old head bar. You are provided tortilla chips as gratis, the chips were average and the salsa was very bland, I asked for house spicy salsa as an alternative, it was also very bland and lacking in any chile pepper forward flavor. I ordered a tamal which was soggy and had a hint of that freezer funk flavor you get from something that gets freezer burned. I had Enchiladas as my entree, which is covered in queso, verde and red sauce, the sauces were also very bland, and the dish tasted under seasoned, the rice that came with the entree had a lot of filler, including peas, and also had very little flavor. The spice game at La Tia & Pancho's is no good, and could use a lot more thought to elevate the dishes. Overall I wouldn't consider coming here again, unless they completely overhaul how they're seasoning and flavoring their cuisine, as well as training their staff on soft skills.

Tried another Mexican restaurant and as usual I ordered the steak fajitas off the lunch menu. You have the choice of 2 sides and I chose rice and guacamole. The meat was sliced into very thin strips. This was annoying. Unfortunately the meat was overcooked so it was chewy. Very disappointing. The grilled onions, green bell peppers and tomatoes were overcooked too. I’m going to give them another chance. When I return I’m going to share my last experience to see if they can rise to the challenge. I recommend you do the same if you order the steak fajitas. The rice and guacamole were delicious. This is a cute restaurant in the heart of Old St. Charles on Main Street. There’s street parking and a public parking garage 100 yards away. Our server was friendly and attentive. The outside patio was full so we sat at a booth in the dining room.

I was visiting St. Charles and found myself craving Mexican food. Tia and Panchos was nearby, so I gave it a try. I’m glad I did. It’s located on historic Main Street of St. Charles, so the building is cool and the surroundings have good character. The restaurant has a great vibe and I’m guessing it’s usually pretty busy due to the location. As for the food, the chips and salsa were right up my alley; thicker warm tortilla chips paired with a dark red salsa. The salsa is very mild, but has good flavor. I ordered ‘Panchos burrito’ which is stuffed with chicken, chorizo and potatoes and covered in cheese sauce; it was a little dry (covered in salsa would’ve helped), but packed with said ingredients. The refried beans were average, but the rice was excellent. If in the area, I’d visit again.

My first time visiting this restaurant with my friends and family with a 7 year old boy was on of the worse experience I ever had in a restaurant. They were not friendly but we were friendly hoping it was because they were just busy. The Manager said once we are seated it does not take long for food to come out. Then told us, It was 2:30 she said we had to be up by 5:30 “they have a part of 12 coming in just to give us heads up”We looked at the time and was thinking it should not take us long, We were starving and it took over an hour to get our food and half of the food was cold, my food didn’t come out at all for another 15 mins after everyone else’s food. When we called the Manager over she said she wondering why we have not received our food. She apologized and said she don’t know what she will do but will check but never returned . At that point we sat and waited for another 15 mins feeling ignored at this we were just all ready to go, we called the waitress over and was ready to just pay the bill. I asked why her manager never came back over she said she don’t know and then I’m asked for her manger again. We waited for another 10 mins until the waitress came back to say “the manager just left she had to take the granddaughter next door and will be right back she didn’t want to have to tell her to turn back around.” Another 10 mins passed before anyone came back, at this point we just wanted to pay the bill. We gave the waitress our payment info, then a lady walks to our table and introduced herself as the Owner. She asked what was the issue? We explained the long wait and cold food. The owner said “ She apologize but she was short staff and had employees that didn’t show up..we were not the only ones that had to wait everyone did and their busy trying to serve over 100 people, If the food was cold how come we didn’t send it back?? We should of sent it back..they have good reviews this is a good place. She apologize for the wait and begin to walk away.” We were so flabbergasted insulted and sick by this response and told her I would of expected more this is our first time here. She looked at us and said “ Well what do you want?? Oh you want a discount, I”ll give you a 10 percent discount.” We said thanks not know really how to take it. She immediately walked away to the waitress and pointed out who she was giving discounts to. It took another 10 mins to get our bill from there. My bill amount didn’t change it said a 80 cent discount and I believe my other two friends received a 1.00 discount. We didn’t argue, as we walked out the door there was no thank you or have a good evening. It was the worse feeling walking out of a restaurant I’ve ever felt. Don’t know why we were treated so badly, was it because we were the only black family in the restaurant??? It sure did feel like discrimination. The owners was a Caucasian woman and all the workers were Mexican. The workers seem intimidated by her as well. I will never go there or recommend anyone to this restaurant. It was an awful feeling and worse experience at any restaurant I’ve...

I attended the Crawl for the Cure Pub Crawl yesterday for the 1st time & I had such a wonderful experience! Until me & my friends decided to eat at this restaurant. We wanted to come into this establishment to end the night off with good food & to sober up. One of the people in our group was turned away as soon as he walked in because the owner said he was intoxicated. It didn’t sit right with us. When the rest of us sat down & were asked what we wanted to drink, the owner came over to our table & told our waitress not to serve us any alcohol because we had been at the Pub Crawl all day… we didn’t even have the chance to say what we wanted & almost all of us got water except for 2 people at our booth. I told her we were fine & she walked away. Felt very targeted by the owner ever since we walked through the doors, which is not something you want to feel walking into an establishment & wanting to have a relaxing time with your friends & family. The food wasn’t that wonderful either. One of us ordered a chicken taco & received 2 tacos with only shredded chicken & lettuce… nothing else.

I wanted to have a conversation with the owner about the events that had happened regarding our friend being turned away & her comment to our waiter before we ordered anything. She claimed “she didn’t know what he was going to do”. That was not the response I expected coming from an owner. You don’t know what anyone is going to do when they walk into the restaurant & you didn’t give him a chance to sit down at a booth, which is in fact what he was trying to do to EAT. Not to mention the owner blamed me for a margarita being spilled at our booth which in fact was not mine or my fault. However, she was “willing to bet” it was my fault & that it was mine. The attitude I received from the owner was completely unacceptable & she was very defensive. I was very nice & was very respectful & it was not reciprocated in the slightest. To top off the entire experience, she got very upset with me & told me that I wasn’t listening & that she wanted me to leave… I proceeded to to tell her I wasn’t trying to make her upset or rub her the wrong way, I wanted to better understand the reasonings behind her words & actions towards our group. After that was upset she yelled at me to leave & so I left. I was annoyed & frustrated from the beginning to the end of our dinner & even more so after the owner of the establishment was terribly rude to me. She was very distasteful, dismissive & accusatory the entire night. I DO NOT recommend coming to this restaurant for any reason whatsoever. I DO recommend going to Tony’s on...

Had high hopes since I love Mexican but you read and decide. Last evening around 8pm we arrived at La Tia & Pancho. We had been there a few days prior during a music festival to get drinks and chips so we thought we'd go back and try the food. Upon arriving at 8, I saw it was busy but we expected it to be since it was a Saturday evening during another festival. We were told to find a table and sit. We found one on the patio, sat and waited (and waited and waited and waited). 2 servers passed where we were sitting and didn't even give us a look. Finally when we were about to get up and leave one came over ... He took our drink and food order and left.

Other people were coming and going -- getting their drinks, and chips and salsa. There we sat and again waited and waited and waited. 40+ min later I went over to the water who took our order and asked why we had not received even our drinks or chips and salsa as he had bought other tables their drinks and chips and they had arrived way after us. He said Oh I forgot you. I asked to see a manager since we had not received anything. I even mentioned cancelling our order since we had not received it.

The owner came over and apologized. She asked what she could do to make it right. She said that our order had just come out but they brought it back to the kitchen since we canceled it. I said I had only mentioned cancelling and really wanted to see the manager first. She said she would go get our order so we decided to eat since it was ready. Note we still did not have drinks, utensils, or any chips and salsa. When it came out the items were soggy, The lettuce on my taco was if it was sitting under a warmer for a long time. It was awful but I was done with them and done complaining. We finally got our drinks and utensils and ate a little. Note even though they only charged us 50% for each item, my daughter said that she was not impressed and does not plan to return and I agree.

At first we were trying to be patient since there was a festival going on, but when you see other tables getting their orders after arriving and we had Nothng, not even a water, you realize that we did not matter to them. We were not young or a large table so we were ignored. I hate to complain but I want others to know what we went through in case you are trying to determine if you should try them. I have read other reviews since and it appears that lack of service and food taste is common. It will be a long day before we return since even after we did finally get our food the quality...
