I joined Crossfit Saint Charles (CFSTC) in April of 2015. Previously I had been in a preventive maintenance mode with running and weight lifting at a brand name gym in town. The running was starting to take its toll on my 43 year old knees and back. The weight lifting had become a routine and boring chore that I couldn't wait to be done with every day. I had my eye on CrossFit for several years but I could not latch onto the idea of being stuck in a class at specified times with my travel schedule for work. There are so many classes and time options that this was not an issue. I finally gave it a try despite my reservations and completed the intro course with the owner and coach. Everything was new to me so I was extremely challenged from day one. Nobody is born with the skills to do the CrossFit movements so everyone starts off by scaling the workouts which is humbling. Over time I got better at the movements through the help of the great coaches at CFSTC. Then I really started to enjoy CF because the competitive drive to improve and do better every day starts to kick in. I learned to love the opportunity to not quit when things got really hard. Five days a week I get the chance to prove to myself that nothing can make me quit. This carries over into everything I do outside of the gym. I travel for work and visit gyms all over North America and I can honestly say that so far I haven't found one that I love as much as CFSTC. The coaches and the people that I work out with are knowledgeable, encouraging, and supportive. It's a wonderful atmosphere for the whole family. My kids love to come to the gym with my wife and I when we workout and then they come back for kids Crossfit. It's honestly like a second family to us. The programming and coaching priorities go above and beyond to avoid injuries by emphasizing mobility and proper techniques. If you give it six months, listen to the coaches, and give it 100%, you will improve your level of fitness beyond what you ever...
Read moreI just joined this gym a couple of weeks ago. The facility is nice, all the coaches go out of their way to introduce themselves if you are new to their class and there seems to be plenty of class times to accommodate a busy schedule. Joining is easy, Kim is super nice and really helpful with answering my questions before I made the decision to join. The workouts are tough, but I have not had an issue with scaling a work out down if there was a movement I can’t perform or am not strong enough yet to complete. Everyone in the classes I have attended enjoyed being there and there is a lot of variety in athletic capabilities, with people who are starting out like me all the way up to the more seasoned individuals that can complete all the movements at the prescribed weight. So, if you are on the fence and in the St. Charles area, I think it’s worth your time to call and make an appointment to see for yourself why you should...
Read moreThe place is big has plenty room the coaches here are the best. Me being over 40 and the Army Reserves having to stay fit in order to my job which is Drill Sergeant and when I am training Soldiers half my age. You still have to be able to show the trainees how to do everything and physical fitness is a very important part of it. I had zero experience accept for what some of friends have told me about. Once I join the gym I sat down with the coaches to discuss my goals very knowledgeable and very informative on helping each individual on reaching their goals. Also the coaches watch everyone to make sure everyone is performing exercises correctly and safely to make and get the proper training. The people at the classes I go to are awesome it’s a great community to be a part of. Everyone is very encouraging and supportive. I highly...
