Ugh, I really wish I could give them five stars. My parents used to go here every Sunday, without fail, for YEARS, until my dad recently passed away. They never had any complaints & always looked forward to their weekly visit. I’ve taken my mom back a few times since my Dad’s passing & we’ve had great food & great service (always from the owner & his son) until our last two visits. Visit before last, I ordered a diet Dr. Pepper, but our server brought a Diet Pepsi. No big deal. Someone came to check on us & I asked for the diet Dr. Pepper that I ordered. She never brought it & no one ever came back to check on us, until we were given our bill. I told my mom that I’d just ask for the beverage to be taken off of our bill since it was never received, but she asked that I just let it go. So I did. Today, I visited with my husband & son. Service was great, food was good, sat right down on cinco de mayo (hmm…). Only issue until receiving our bill was that my frozen marg was very watery. Asked for extra salt & got none at all. I asked for a glass with salt & she brought one that was frozen with plenty of salt. I thought that was nice. Again, no real issues until I reviewed our bill. We ordered a cheese quesadilla & fries for my son. We were charged $9.95 for the quesadilla & $5.95 for the fries. I’m sorry, what?! No big deal, mistakes happen. So I asked our server to confirm prices (which did not match the menu) & her response was, “Yep, it’s on the first page of the menu.” Then she turned & walked away without offering further explanation or to correct our bill. Um, okay…maybe I just missed those astronomical prices. Sure enough, still didn’t match. Like I said, I’d love to give them 5 stars, but when you are charged almost $16.00 for a cheese quesadilla & fries, which does not match menu prices, game over. I can’t say you are sure to be disappointed, because many times we weren’t. Just make sure you get what you pay for & insist on your bill being corrected (even if they don’t offer), like I...
Read moreA friend of mine brought me in because she loves this place but we did not have a great experience. The waitress was pretty inept for starters. My friend, who has eaten here often, was surprised by how spicy the salsa was and asked if someone had made it differently. The waitress looked like a deer in headlights and stammered her response that she was unaware of any difference. I asked if there were any other dips that weren't as spicy for her and she couldn't name one. I looked at the appetizer list and suggested the queso or the guacamole. My friend asked if the queso was hot and the waitress couldn't give a dedicated answer so I asked if my friend could try it and the waitress said she would bring a sample but she's really not supposed to do that. I thought that was bad business all the way around. She brought the sample and missed the opportunity to upsell. I had to do it for her. She left the table and I had to call her back to tell her that we did indeed want an order of the queso dip.
We ordered two large Margaritas and they must have used Tequila Incognito because we couldn't detect the taste at all.
I ordered a chili relleno and refried beans and she ordered the chicken chimichanga. I get the same thing at every Mexican restaurant so I have a lot of taste profiles to draw from and this was one of, if not the worst chili relleno I have ever had and I have even made them home made. I would put my homemade relleno against theirs any day of the week. Their grease was dirty and that showed up in both taste and color. The breading/batter was dark brown and heavy tasting in flavor and texture. The red sauce was good but unremarkable. The refried beans were good too but probably came out of a can. I've had as much or more flavor on my own stove. The chimi was good but bland. All in all, thank God for queso which I can...
Read moreUPDATE March 2025 Went back after all this time and it was back to WONDERFUL service and EXCELLENT food. 👍
Usually the service is excellent. Tonight it was not.
First of all a gentleman in a red shirt with a bad upper right tooth came to take our drink orders. He disappeared and never came back.
Another fella came over and took our orders. My sister ordered a spinach quesadilla but they brought her a spinach enchilada. The waiter then came over to the table and proceeded to tell us that she ordered a spinach enchilada. She did not. She ordered a spinach quesadilla.
Even if she would have ordered incorrectly he should have absorbed the blame if he was a good waiter. But it doesn't matter because she didn't order incorrectly. She ordered a spinach quesadilla.
He got all huffy from that point on. The service was terrible but the food was very good.
Needless to say, we did not leave a tip and that ticked off the cashier. She was very rude to us after that as well.
We will not be going back there even though we've been patronizing that place...
