Overspray Art Space — Attraction in Saint Petersburg

I was gifted a class with Johnny at Overspray for Christmas - the most unique and special present ever! As a student at Parsons School of Design and freelance illustrator, I have a lot of experience with image-making, but would never have access to the tools and facilities offered at Overspray, let alone the friendly and uber-talented people who work there - Johnny was a fantastic person to learn from, with diverse years of experience under his belt and an immensely supportive attitude, he helped me to quickly pick up these new tools and get to work (all the while being a great chatting partner to work beside on the wall!). Johnny and Nicole were both great to talk to about education and careers in the arts - but I would highly recommend this class to anyone who has ever wanted to use a spray paint can! From lettering to murals to throwing some colors on a wall, it's such a fun activity and really opens up a new way of thinking with unique tools and methods. I am super grateful for the wonderful experience I had and wish them the most success in bringing the medium to more people in Saint Pete and beyond! Stay awesome...

Overspray Art Space is an absolute gem! I had such a fun and awesome time here. From the moment I walked in, the space felt welcoming, relaxed, and full of creative energy. Whether you’ve never touched a spray can or you’re a seasoned muralist, this place makes spray painting feel totally accessible and exciting.

What I loved most was the freedom to explore without judgment. The staff provided all the tools and guidance I needed, but also gave me the space to just create and enjoy the process. Their philosophy of breaking barriers and encouraging artistic freedom really shines through in every aspect.

There’s a strong sense of community too—people were collaborating, sharing ideas, and genuinely celebrating each other’s creativity. Overspray Art Space was so creative. This place really gave a new experience for St. Pete. This location was a medium I was very unaccustomed to but love it. We were welcomed with a warm greeting and snacks and sodas. Then we were taught the basics of the art. The culmination was using spray paint to really express the space.
