Salty Pup Coffeehouse & Winebar — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

I'm very excited about this new coffee shop - particularly that it opens at 7 am as we don't have an early morning coffee shop in Gulfport! I'm only giving four stars because I think there are still ways for the shop to grow and become even more inviting, and I'm excited to continue going here.

The owners are fantastic - they're clearly passionate about their shop and its a delight chatting with them!

The only food I've had so far are the egg bites, so I didn't rate the food. The egg bites came with a side of fruit, so the meal was filling, but the bites themselves were a little bland. May just need some more salt and pepper in them or perhaps some hot sauce options. They have a great sounding menu, though!

The atmosphere is 50/50 for me. The side of the shop where you order and the lounge area with the rattan chairs and ceiling light fixture in the dining room are perfect - great vibe, warm, light, inviting. However, the rest of the dining room falls flat a bit compared to the rest of the shop. It has a darker and colder vibe. I love the color of the accent wall and the long bench, but the dark, thick, brown wood tables and chairs aren't super inviting and don't match the aesthetic of the rest of the shop. I think some light fixtures along the accent wall, and maybe some light art adjacent to the side door, would help lighten up that area?

Salty Pup is an absolute gem in our community! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with cozy vibes, the smell of fresh bagels and pastries, and some of the best coffee and tea around. Their baked goods are always on point, and the menu offers something delicious for everyone. But what really sets Salty Pup apart is how much heart they put into everything—from their friendly service to fun events like wine night! Yes, you heard that right—amazing wine, great company, and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. I had a delightful experience at Salty Pup Coffeehouse & Winebar, where I ordered a cup of coffee with cream along with a refreshing fruit bowl and some delicious mini frittatas. The fresh fruit added a bright, vibrant touch, and the mini frittatas were both tasty, no curbs, and satisfying. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
