🛹You are not allowed to have a skateboard or longboard inside even if you're carrying it. Dunham Sports sells both but you are in violation of mall rules after you purchase one. I tried to speak with management on this issue but they took the day off. So to management please know; This is some people's only mode of transport. Not everyone can afford a car or even drive. To arbitrarily make a rule where you can't even carry a board is borderline discrimination. Discrimination against a whole sport/community that often stems from a misguided view/understanding of board sports and skate culture where we are all grossly stereo-typed and assumed to be like 1990's-2000's mainstream media portrayal of a "skater". It is 2024 and the sport has evolved exponentially since then. This feels like a blanket rule made to keep out those who you see as undesirable such as skaters and people less financially fortunate and it, to me, feels like an uneducated decision based in ignorance. I came to the mall today to get things for my board, which was my business here today as I had heard there was a board shop here. If you are going to decide you'd rather not have my business that's fine but I advise you to stop letting stores sell items you have banned or better yet don't ban items your stores sell. At a minimum I feel rule should be changed to "no riding skateboards" and then people can respectfully carry their boards and if they want to break the rules then boot em' but at least then they would have actually been guilty of something other than the mere act of owning a board. Thank you for taking the time to read and have a wonderful day! Don't hesitate to reach out for more clarification. To the boarders out there; don't walk, skate safe,...
Read moreIt's a nice mall with some amenities and a great theatre. JoAnne's fabric is popular. Has jewelry shops, specialty stores, JC PENNEY, etc. Sears and Sears Automotive closed but there is only one Sears Automotive store left in the state of Kansas (East Wichita). This makes it nearly impossible to utilize the life long "tire balance and rotation" I purchased from Sears Automotive when I purchased 4 tires prior to their closing. But most malls are hurting now days with Dillons having MarketPlaces that sell furniture, clothes, etc besides groceries, particularly Wichita. And with more and more people shopping online with Amazon, Wal-Mart, basically any large chain store. But JC PENNEY just celebrated 100 years here. And the Mall itself is surrounded with restaurants that continually seem to grow. I miss Dillards which has 2 unannounced sales every year (spring & fall) where items can be marked down from 50 to 90 percent off. The closures are due to simple profitability. You won't find too many local stores here due to the high rent which one can attribute to it's location which is continually growing with food establishments and motels/hotels. Those are great for visitors and guests but don't provide great incomes for the residents. But it's still a viable part of the community and worthwhile shopping at....
Read moreI walked through Central Mall in the Summer of 2021, as I was passing through Salina. It was pretty quiet in here. However, I did stop in Old Navy, Bath & Body Works, Books-A-Million and Robert Cowboy Outfitters, now that was an interesting store.
It’s hard to believe that Dunham’s Sporting Goods used to be Dillard’s. But with all kidding aside, Dunham’s is actually a great store, which can meet all your sporting good needs, or even just general apparel. Now, there’s NO longer JCPenney, which being said, if you live in Salina, and want to shop there, you’d have to go to Wichita or Manhattan. Or on the other hand, if you don’t want to drive that far, you can just order online.
December 2023… I was in Salina for an event, and had some time to kill. I wondered through the mall, and I was pleasantly surprised to see there were several folks in here. There was a beautiful Christmas Tree smack dab in the center, and I’m glad Santa was here. You could hear him Ho-Ho-Hoing all...
