This museum is actually smaller than I thought but absolutely worth it. I like going to different museums while I travel for work because no matter how many of the same things you see there is always some amazing one off things each museum has to offer. This museum doesn’t let down on this idea.
They have a really fantastic Native American masterpiece that is small but really packed with information, antiques, and pictures. This museum has a tiny section for stuffed animals when compared to San Diego or DC, but the few they have are really well presented and done well. The dinosaur section is jam packed with different animals and dinosaurs that it is overwhelming. I had to slow down in this section to really see all the amazing items they have here.
Here are a couple things they I found really amazing and have not seen this at other natural history museums. 1) the collection of eggs and turtle shells and they way they are presented. 2) the collection of triceratops’s heads from different types and how they are hung on the wall - breathe taking.. 3) the roof top access has a really great view of the valley.
This place is really great for kids. There are a lot of displays and items for kids to look at, to do, or learn about. One thing that was strange to me was how small their museum shop was and they did not have magnets or stickers about the museum. I collect some of this type of stuff and couldn’t find anything in the shop to pick up. ☹️

Read moreThe museum had some very interesting exhibits, particularly the dinosaurs, gem collection, and astronomy/meteorology. Unfortunately the exhibit I originally went to the museum for is overwhelmingly unimpressive... they were showcasing an exhibit regarding Yellowstone National Park. I've been to Yellowstone many times and just love it! I highly recommend going at least once in your lifetime, and if not for the amazing geysers than at the minimum go for the scenery and the beautiful hiking trails and abundant wildlife; anyways I digress. The Yellowstone exhibit was very disappointing as I've said, it's quite literally the same size as one and a half of my garage... I have a large 2 car garage with some space off to the side where 2 four wheelers (large ones) and 2 motorcycles (dirt bikes) can fit, so as you can tell, it was NOT a large exhibit at all!
P.S. Yellowstone is best visited in the spring or late summer/early fall. During the heat of the summer the animals are less likely to be out-n-about, plus if you visit in spring you get to see all the babies l and if you're lucky...
Read moreStunning visually, the exhibitions leave a bit to be desired. The views, architecture, and layout or the exhibits are all really beautiful. The space is well organized, the visitor is led let through the space effectively while still being able to independently orient themselves and find their way to what interests them. On the other hand, I found the content of the exhibits to be quite surface level, with much of the info that I was hoping to find simply not being there. For example, as an amateur geologist, I was looking forward the finding out what kinds of rocks I had seen in my travels around Utah. I was disappointed. The museum has a whole section devoted to geology, but I terms of the type of rocks, all then had was a map showing areas of different rock, without a key saying what rack color represents, and a diagram showing the layers of sedimentary rocks which specified the period in which they formed, but again, not what they were. I realize, that’s a pretty specific example that may not bother any other people, but the whole museum felt that way,...
