The Islamic Center of San Antonio is a truly beautiful and spacious masjid that serves as a wonderful gathering place for the community. The architecture is impressive, and the chandeliers are absolutely stunning - they add an elegant touch to the prayer space.
What really warmed my heart was seeing families involved and children playing. It's wonderful to see a masjid that feels alive with community spirit, where kids feel welcome and families come together. This is what a true Islamic center should be - a place for all generations.
The masjid was built about 20 years ago and has served the community well. While it could benefit from some tender loving care and updates here and there, the space remains serene and conducive to worship. The maintenance needs don't take away from the overall peaceful atmosphere and the sense of community you feel when you're there.
May Allah bless all those who built this masjid and continue to maintain it. It's a valuable asset to the San Antonio Muslim community, and I look forward to visiting again.
Jazakallahu Khayran to everyone involved in keeping this center running and...
Read moreThe mosque is very comfortable and very clean. The prayer hall and corridors always smell good due to their use of aromatic and pleasant scents. The administration deserves appreciation and thanks for the work they do in all religious and cultural fields. The imam is always present in the mosque, welcoming the guests, and when the prayer ends, he bids farewell to the people with a good spirit and a charming smile that makes you always want to return to this mosque. The imam who leads the prayer has a distinctive performance, has a distinctive voice, and increases your humility. The library is very rich in books and references. It has community services and does great work for new Muslims. Bathrooms are acceptable and everything is available. The parking lots are spacious and marked with parking signs depending on their size. The football field and basketball court wants more attention. In general, a Muslim person is proud that there are places of worship in America in this form and with this ideal management. We wish them continued and...
Read moreBeautiful place. I was very nervous about going, but things were a breeze. The males leave you alone, and the females are helpful. I waited until after prayers were over, and a woman got me in touch with people for more information, and was given multiple books and pamphlets, including a great translated copy of Quran with Arabic and English side by side, and reads well against my original copy of Quran. (Unlike the bible, the Quran which gets translated is translated close as possible, but there is only one true version, to preserve the rules given by God!)
Lastly, the Imam assistant (who gave me the books and oh, a rundown of classes both on Islam as well as some simply to learn Arabic) went to feed stray cats as apparently a regular thing. While that's not necessarily a huge deal to many, it's a duty in Islam to care for the weak/stray/etc and there were like 20 cats, and I get the sense that the guy was happy, not simply obligated, to be of service to the living...
