Beautiful landscape and a lot of gorgeous art along the trails. The trails all lead to different Historical Missions depending on how far you walk. Great place to run, jog, ride your bikes or if you're like me, a beautiful place to walk your dogs. I'd highly recommend walking to the missions. It's great exercise and you get to take pictures of the beautiful missions for wonderful memories with your family. Speaking of family, you get to fish at the river and BBQ at the park while kids play on the playground. Great place for birthday parties and family gatherings in general. Fantastic park, would highly recommend dedicating each walk on the trail towards going to a different mission each time you walk so you have a goal to strive towards and not get bored...

I worked near this park for years but never visited it. I recently enjoyed the facility during the 160th Anniversary celebration of First Baptist Church of San Antonio. The main advantage was that it was large enough to easiy host 650 people. There were plenty of easily accessible picnic tables, and again, enough room to serve 650 pre-ordered dinners in a surprisingly short amount of time. I really don't know the square footage, but a covered pavilion with a huge ceiling fan accommodated enough seating for everyone. Lots of green space for games and sports is available, and a bike trail is nearby. For some extra sightseeing, the Hot Wells Springs are up the road on S. Presa.

Update:...

If you arrive before the park opens, there are big gates blocking the entrances, so you can go across the road to Mission Pkwy Parking and see the quiet part of the riverwalk (this is what I did). This park is huge with many picnic tables and a huge paved circular loop. There's covered pavilions, bathrooms, a huge metal art piece with cacti growing atop it (that was unexpected and cool), and a brief metal bridge. There was minimal trash and I saw someone going around picking it up. This is a lovely park next to the San Antonio river with a lot of wide open...
