i’m writing this in real time at st lukes hospital having made the terrible decision to trust opuscare with my grandmother’s transition.

not only was she never evaluated in person by their doctor, but then our icu nurse had to repeatedly call to get the doctor to input orders for the pain medicine.

after my grandmother was extubated, she was gasping for air - turning blue - for almost half an hour as our heroic the icu nurse tried to work within the narrow medication parameters she had been given. the nurse called trying to get new orders to up the pain meds because my grandmother was clearly in distress. it took more than one try for our nurse to get the response/approval to do what she knew needed to be done (and what had been promised to us by this derelict corporation).

at some point in our state of trauma and grief we realized that the intake nurse had promised palliative oxygen for my grandmother. it was nowhere in our icu nurse’s orders. nowhere.

my mother tried calling the “emergency” help line as we were promised 24/7 access. she only got a receptionist who said “i’m sorry our office is closed…i’m sorry i’m not in the office…i’m sorry the doctor is unavailable.” i listened to my mother BEG and CRY to speak to someone who could impact my grandmother’s care. we still have not received a call back.

only after my mother’s desperate call did this unethical corporation bother returning the nurse’s call to authorize “as needed” medication and oxygen.

the thoughtless, careless, unconscionably inaction of this corporation whose sole purpose is to make money off the death of humans made an already horrible moment in our lives unnecessarily chaotic and traumatizing.

run from this company and the so-called medical professionals who work here. they don’t care about you or...

This is the worst place to have your loved one in hospice. The staff is rude , unfriendly very unprofessional. I had my grandma and my mother under hospice at the same time. One of the staff members left my 102 years old grandma alone and unattended her forehead was up against the bed rail which left a mark on her forehead. I reported to the home office in San Antonio, Tx and I got yelled at for kicking the nurse out of my house. I even called the main office in Mimi, Florida and spoke to a lady name Sandra she advised me that she will handle it immediately and someone from Mimi would be calling me but nope she let the local office here in San Antonio, Tx to handle to matter. Which it became worsts the staff started to mistreat my mother according to the camera that I place in the rooms. I made a second call to Mimi, Florida and I spoke to Sandra again the same results. My grandma passed away under there care. Hospice aims to: make the patient comfortable. ease pain and other symptoms. support the family through a sad and difficult time not in our case. I fired Opuscare immediately after my grandma passing. Now my mother is receiving the best care ever from Encompass...

My mom was at Baptist hospital and was dying Opus came to talk to me and I felt they would take care of mom's last hours. Mom was released directly to nursing home and OPUS did NOT provide any care. My mom was struggling to breathe and only had nasal cannula. My mom suffered needlessly for 24 hours. The nurses at nursing home called OPUS repeatedly requesting someone to please make appearance. I had to leave my dying mother's bedside and spend 1 hour with nursing director as she tried and tried to get OPUS employee to nursing home. Mom was gasping for air like a fish out of water for 24 hrs yet no one showed up. . Finally when the nurse showed up he was professional and did excellent job but by that time mom only had minutes left of her life . Opus really disappointed me and if I can take legal action I will. NO ONE DESERVES SUCH HORRIBLE TREATMENT sadly I would not even recommend their assistance to euthanize a dog. if OPUS is getting money from the state they need to be investigated and licensed should be revoked. How many other times has this happened and whose getting rich at the suffering...
