A wonderful and diverse parish staffed by kind and compassionate people. I am most impressed with Fr. Joseph who is the parochial vicar. Despite his youth, he is an excellent teacher. As a rule of thumb, I have not been impressed with many of the priests in the San Antonio diocese. Most deliver cold and uninspiring homilies and seem to be struggling to align themselves with Pope Francis's very simple message of love and compassion. Father Joseph of St. Luke's is an outstanding exception. He speaks boldly to truth and is unafraid to make Christ's message plain and relatable to our lived lives. You will not hear him harp over and over again on hot-button political issues like abortion or contraception. His message is always simple; love one another, take care of the poor, honor your families.
Regarding the parish community, it is one of the more diverse. There are Nigerians, Filipinos, Mexicans, Indians, Koreans, and Americans of nearly every age bracket from elders to newborns.
Regarding the parish staff. The hospitality is mostly a diverse group of elder men. They are well-groomed, dressed, and very friendly. They are really involved in what they do and have a great sense of humor. They will make newcomers feel welcome and even help calm your fussy children with...
