Don’t Rent with them, they claim to be a shared space for artists, it’s not. The owner John will Micro manage every event requesting event insurance & will arrive to monitor what’s going on; only to embarrass you in front of whoever you’re working with. Highly unprofessional behavior, my coworkers/clients felt his actions were made in prejudice to their race. The way we were spoken to, made to feel, made it feel as if we didn’t belong even as paying tenants. Which made the feeling of racial bias mutual. I refuse to rent from someone overly aggressive, overbearing, not respectful of personal space, racially biased towards minorities. That being said. Choice is yours. Space is too small to be charging event GL’s plus the one time I had an event (art exhibition) there the AC was turned off remotely all night. 92 degrees inside. If I could give zero stars I would. I reached out to rent a space hourly and left a detailed phone message for Andrea (the only contact given). About two or three days later, I was sent a generic text message from I’m assuming her with information about monthly rentals. I responded immediately via text asking again, for hourly and full day rental information. That was almost a month ago and I still haven’t heard back from anyone. Clearly I have moved on from using this company by now. The professionalism with Studios by Alamo and anyone in charge of filtering prospective renters for their spaces have proven to be sub par at the very least. I’ll forever have a spot in my heart for the brownstone! They have housed so many amazing artists, & I am truly blessed to have gotten to experience having a studio here. Also, the landlord John will forever be one of my favorite landlords 😭 I feel because he treated me like human and not just a paycheck haha.
