I've been coming here since I was a teenager and continued til I got married and had kids and now my kids are teenagers...I live in Fort Worth, Texas and I love San Antonio and always make a stop to Don Juan when I'm in town..I still have their Business card and it's over 20 yrs old (Which they don't make anymore) and showed the owner , he laughed and couldn't believe I had it he said he made them at home and was practicing and handed them out years ago...Don Juan has a great staff and great food and prices and when you walk in it always feels like home to me like i'm walking back in time...Thank you for the memories thru the years your staff always treat their customers like they are long...

Had their Wednesday lunch special of enchiladas verdes with a dollop of sour cream, a small serving of guacamole and rice and beans, ice tea does not accompany this lunch special. The food was all good including the homemade tortillas, which is a good indicator of things to come. Daily specials are offered some with tea included. It was my first time visiting this restaurant. I ordered the enchilada and taco plate. The refried beans were excellent, the taco was good, the enchilada was average.
I was told by a friend I should have ate my tortillas because they are made fresh and are excellent, but I didn't. He also said the red and green salsas are both made fresh every morning.
My plate with a drink was about $8 and was better than some of the well established Mexican restaurants Ive been to around town.
I would return here to try some more items, as everything was good.
