This is one of two "Las Delicias" restaurants. This is tagged as #1, but both are on W. Commerce St., within walking distance of each other; but this one (#1) has free off-the street parking. What's most oustanding about #1 is that it is open early in the morning, every day of the week, to quickly serve tacos, but with lots of tables and chairs (5 stars). The Mexican taco is a meal to eat while standing (so convenient and frugal: you actually eat the plate - the tortilla). Of course, the restaurant or outlet caters to what the local people like or expect to find readily available to-go. But their flour tortillas, though big, leave much to be desired. The corn-made "tortillas" (true tortillas) are only available upon request, and it takes a while to heat them up over in the kitchen. But in terms of drinks, there's a very good assortment and variety of cooled commercial drinks. I write this review because on Holidays, I've found this breakfast and lunch restaurant or taco stand open for business, and near Downtown! They sure work hard at that monotonous job. And seems like the owner is always present, so the quality of product is consistent. And .... It's near what I consider to be the best coffeeshop in San Antonio. (Not that I've tried all, but I know gourmet coffee). Another nice feature is: it's quiet in there's no harsh, loud, crude, musical noise piped in. It's peaceful in there, unlike most other...
Read moreI enjoyed the delicious tacos on homemade flour tortillas. The Tripas taco were in a balanced consistency of crispiness and softness. Not extremely greasy but just enough for it not to be too dry. The potato and egg was in a mashed blend which I found to be still enjoyable. It contained just the right amount of salt to allow one to add more flavor. There were no beans and eggs option but the server was generous and kind enough to combine bacon and egg with beans and the bacon added an extra kick to that taco. The salsa is not as hot as most Mexican restaurants but it allows customers to add more to one preference. Overall it is now my favorite morning/ mid-afternoon taco spot. I highly recommend this place for the food, the prices and the warm customer service. Next time I'll inquire about a corn...
Read moreTechnically, I haven’t been to this location in a while, but been hanging out in the old hood and been trying different spots. This is a cafeteria type service Mexican Resturant, but which is great because you can you have a large variety of food. Everything was made fresh and hot only thing is they do not go heavy on the salt so that’s a good thing for people trying to watch their sodium intake. Other than that food was hot fresh friendly ladies making the tortillas and making the tacos was good meat but lawn salt but other than that, it was good. I made two tacos out of all the tacos they make here are fat literally too much couldn’t finish the third one I have. I had like halfway because it was too bigbut definitely come check...
