Thanks for being consistent Via ! The only criticism I have is to offer stress reduce sessions for your driver's. I've witnessed as welcome been on the receiving end of a drive not just having a bad moment or day but, Not being aware of the role they have placed themselves in. Believe it or not Driver's bear the role of Hospitality ambassadors. And being bushed up on information of How the different routes occur and what connects with what should be apart of their learned regiment. Compassion also goes a long way. We have many homeless souls that ride the bus especially at night and from one starting point to the end of the line at times to pass the time, Safety and getting out of bad weather at times. I ride the #102 4 days out of the week from Kel-Lac to Brooks Transit. The 11:35 departing #102. And I saw such a wonderful act of patience, Kindness, Respect and manners from a young black driver, Sunday night 3/27 from the #102 departing Kel-Lac at 11:35p.m. to Brooks Transit. Myself and two other passengers already seat and ready to go. As we were about to take off, A Lady who happened to be homeless with her wheel chair she uses to carry her personal affects around in and also happens to be Xtra large in body mass as well moves at a slower pace then most. I saw him notice her as he was pulling off. He stopped and waited for her to make it to the bus, Set the wheelchair access up, help her with her things with no attitude, Lack of patience. Immediately as I was watching this moment, My heart felt different and I going through an affect of the consideration he had in his heart at this moment for this beautiful lady. And it made me cry. I will get his name and badge number next time I see him. He deserves recognition! Via, He is the Face you want representating your Brand for...
Read moreUsed the Shuttle for the Paul McCartney concert and I have to admit, my expectations were very low but I was totally impressed with every part of my experience with VIA! The organization was perfect! The staff at the parking lot was very knowledgeable, extremely pleasant, professional and fun. Got right on a bus, we were full and moving out in no time. The driver to the concert was great and on-his-game. He saw that 281 was completely stopped and he pulled over, made a call to see if he should take another route and made his decision to get us there as timely as possible. He turned on to I-10 East, got off, made a left back over I-10, took the back way up to the concert avoiding all the traffic!! Arriving at the transit center we pulled right around to the discharge area where he told us we would board the bus after the concert, the staff on the ground were telling us all the same thing. After the concert the staff was directing everyone where to line up for whichever Shuttle and were every bit as awesome as the staff at the parking lot! 2 busses quickly filled, another 2 pulled up shortly, we boarded, not even a 10 minute wait driver greeted all of us, he took his que to leave, we circled around, out to the street, under 281, got right on 281 south and back to the City Base parking lot in no time! Staff at the parking lot were right there as we exited the bus and were very pleasant again 5 hours later lol. Buses were super clean, spotless in fact! It could not have been a better experience! I'm from the NYC area and always enjoyed using mass transit. VIA did a great job, thank you to all of...
Read moreI gave this a low score because the entire via system needs major improvement. This used to be the best metro transit system in the United States but the quality of innovative thinkers must have been farmed out to China just like everything else is. All the transit centers need to have all area busses cart riders to their designated transit center then bus non stop expresses between transit centers . The travel times across the city are way to long and it has a trickle effect on the economy and employment in this city . Also it doesn't reach the manufacturing plants in the outer areas or even a hub where people can transfer to other bussing systems so people can have an opportunity for good jobs. Like Toyota and caterpillar in Seguin , Selma and Shertz. Via in some ways is shooting themselves in their own foot because there are riders who are forced to buy or pay higher fees for other means of inner city travel. The already challenged economy that Biden has destroyed is ever increasingly hindering our quality of life so why should our own home grown transit system be so out of touch with its patrons needs ? How bout the board members use the transit system for a month to taste the effects of the poison they have formulated and see for themselves how hard that pill...
