UPDATE: I need to be careful when I hype places up and expect the same experience each time. I don’t not recommend this place on a weekend or if you have more than 2-4 people with you… Welp, the experience I had yesterday was the opposite of my previous visit🫤… from the wait time to the actual time we were seated, we were told a 30 min wait ( which is understandable bc we had a large group) put on the wait list at 3:15 pm and sat at 4:26pm, after we were notified in the 30 mins they said it would be ready via text that our table was ready which it was not, so there’s that, y’all do the math. Which now leads me to the whole reason we came, the drinks and food… I ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 tea bc the last time the sweet tea was SWEEEEEET but good so this time I ordered it 1/2 and 1/2, and food: I ordered a “build your own” 2 French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and a side of hash browns… the tea was brown water, the excuse was they ran out of tea and they’re making fresh, they brought out “fresh” tea, still brown water with maybe some sugar in it. The food I ordered… I wish I could tell y’all how it tasted but I never got my FT but I did get oil saturated eggs and greasy “hash browns” and burnt dry bacon. I tried to eat them but couldn’t. It was just flat out gross. After everyone got their food I was asked what I had ordered and I told them and then got my partial order and then I told them I hadn’t got my FT and was told they would check on it. Never received it, so I didn’t ask again. I informed the server I never received my FT to please remove that from the ticket, they removed the whole meal and my drink. Which that was a positive. The other positives were those that got pancakes and waffles said they were really good which I’m so glad because that was pretty much the reason we went. The weekend crew needs a little more training or inform customers they don’t serve large groups (6 or more). I only give it 2 stars for the pancakes and waffles others had and for the server trying. We went a couple of days ago (1/18/24), It was my first time going and it won’t be my last. My advice is go hungry, the portions are huge. I wanted pretty much everything on the menu🤭There is a great variety on the menu. The sweet tea was SWEEEEEET 😁, when I got a refill I did half and half which was still good. The food was fresh and tasty, it was soooo good🤤, even the ranch🤤. Our server, Penny, was great! Over all it was a pretty great experience. We’d probably go weekly and make it our spot if we didn’t live so far away.

Came here with Wifey on a Friday Night. It was pretty busy but seated immediately. Black Bear was my wifes favorite breakfast restaurant when we lived in California so were excited to have it open here in SA! With that being said I will still provide and unbiased review :). Food: I got the chicken tenders dinner and she got what is her single favorite breakfast item, Eggs Benedict. We were worried that the food might not taste the same but I must say... It was perfect and reminded us both of home. The Chicken Tenders were juicy, well coated and flavorful as always, the fries were limp and a touch undercooked which was a let down but there was a lot of people so couldn't be too mad. The BBQ sauce was spot on and their ranch, Oh man... Their ranch is what I come for. Delicious! The Eggs Benedict according to my girl were perfect. I watched her cut the poached egg which had a perfect cook, the egg was firm but the yolk was runny like a golden river. The hollandaise sauce was exactly what you would expect and her favorite thing about them is they do not put paprika on the sauce like some other restaurants do which ruins the sauce. The hashbrowns were cooked to perfection and overall the food was splendid Service : We had a wonderful waiter which I wish I could remember the name of. She noticed our table was dirty and immediately cleaned it, she brought us our drinks faster than we could say mollases and was attentive through the entire time we were there! Ambience : It's a Diner, hungry people, mix of couples, singles and families. The people up front were not very friendly but the wait staff sure was. Don't let the people up front keep you from sitting down. Overall a Diner vibe Overall it was a great experience that we have come to expect. I expected more of that "Southern Hospitality" but only our waiter had it, again the front people need to be a bit nicer. We have ate at BB countless times so I can tell you all their other food is delicious as well, from the sandwiches to the pancakes, it's just good food! Give a try, you won't be disappointed!

It’s the 3rd time, 3rd strike and they are out!! Gave it 3 tries, they failed all 3 times, even after us mentioning what the problem was the previous visit. Which are the following; their hash browns were half frozen, cold to the touch. I like my eggs over medium. To clarify, over medium is when it’s fried on one side, then flipped over so that whatever egg whites that were still runny will finish cooking and the yolk will be running but slowly, because they will be medium, or half way cooked. They served me nasty uncooked, running egg whites, and completely raw egg yolks. Their sausage were also rushed and not cooked or heated all the way through. And yes, the second time we mentioned it to our waitress these problems from the first time, and the 3rd time we mentioned these problems from the 1st and 2nd time, but either it wasn’t transmitted to the kitchen or they just don’t care. It’s also worth mentioning that we went just before the breakfast rush, so it’s not like they were slammed, but even if they were, no excuses for rushing out food and not properly cooking it. Finally the coffee. Oh my.. that’s just hot black water. Nasty tasteless coffee in coffee pots that have never seen a scrub brush, because they are nasty crusty. So as with everything and everywhere else we have experienced here in SA, it all comes down to this; either people just don’t know any better, or they don’t care, or they just bend over and take it afraid to stand up for what they are paying for. There’s no other explanation as to why we never see real, raw reviews like mine. No way we are the only ones that had these repeat experiences. Or there’s one more possible reason, maybe they are afraid of hurting people’s feelings. It’s a thing these days. So it will only get worse folks.

Not the type of person to leave bad reviews or a review at all but this place needs help big time.. There's nothing in the world that could get me to ever eat here again..

This was our first time eating here. And the only reason we had dinner here was because the restaurants next door had long wait times.. Next time we know just wait for in line for good quality food. The menus were on a piece of paper that looked like a news paper I was about to start looking for the obituaries. My husband unraveled his utensils and the fork had food still on it. Waiter was horrible took him forever to refill our drinks, my husband ordered the all you can eat fish and the fish was the size of a McDonald's chicken nugget and the hush puppies were the size of a golf ball .. my brother and his wife waited for their water with ice to be refilled but the ice started making its own water I guess that's the gift that keeps on giving. When my husband ordered we asked for an extra plate and that didn't come till About 10 minutes later when my sister in law finally received her food which we waited for her while everyone's food became cold. We waited for the fish to come while I still had an empty plate so I basically had nothing on my plate for the whole time we were there. The place was not busy and there was no excuse at all. We asked for more fish he didn't bring it till about 25 minutes later. So I asked again and he brought it out instantly and the fish was cold.. as we were leaving and getting up from the table the waiter brought out another plate of fish. My brother was waving the waiter down and the waiter would just turn away and ignore him. We also heard other custmers complaining that they never received the rest of the money they used to pay the bill... We also saw other customers leave without ordering. And those same exact customers asked for a table that would fit both her and her husband and child since they were on the heavier side and the waiter then turns around and sits them at another table on the opposite side of the restaurant with the table still having no room. The only good part about this experience was the manager that gave us a 50% discount due to our horrible experience. We all know now to steer clear of this place. Too many young unprofessional people making ugly faces, get better management at this location please.
