Usually I enjoy this place but no longer. Me and my co workers came in a little after 8 or so and noticed that they weren't as busy as usual which is always good. What disgusted me about this was that the cashiers were refusing to assist a black woman that was already standing there before we were. We witnessed the young lady purposely be ignored even after her asking for assistance several times. Once the young lady asked for help here comes this major attitude from both male cashier and female cashier that were both already ignoring her to begin with. At this point I can tell the young lady was trying to be civilized. What's next was the most disrespectful transaction I've seen in my life. The young lady tries to order a order of Churros at which he began to question what she's saying so the young lady begins to spell it and point to the menu where it is shown, the bald guy then begins to play like he cannot understand what the young lady was saying and begins to tell her that he can't understand her and that she's saying it wrong. The older Hispanic lady standing beside her tells the gentleman she wants Churros, then the bald guy begins shouting at the young lady " oh thats what you meant!. Again telling the young lady she's saying it wrong. Then I noticed once he corrected her in the proper way to say Churros which was not professional at all he said it with the loudest way possible to attempt to embarrass her, I notice the other woman at the register begins to laugh at the young lady and tell the customer she's with in Spanish that thats why black people aren't welcomed here and how blacks are stupid. Sadly the customer agrees with her and they share another laugh. I also noticed the bald guy at the register charged the young lady 8 dollars for her churros but only charge us 2.39 for the same full order. I will NOT be returning to this location i dont agree with racism and that young lady should have never been treated in the manner she was and made a...
Read more1 star why well we were hungry and it was around 830ish and decided to give this place a try. Wish we hadn't and kept driving. As we get there we saw so many tables opened even in the patio area and the lady tells is its going to be 15 to 30 min wait we should've left then. So we get seated we order my daughters tea had a horrible taste. We decided to order as we did our waitress came and dropped our food off only came to our table 1 other time like 5 min after we got our food. Never came again for refills nothing. She seemed to have just cared about the table to the left of us which was a family of 4 she was at their beckon call. Which idk y I am a single working mom so I guess she thought hey I can get more money of here with this family. Then as we sit there i waited for my ticket and I needed a to go box for my meal. We sat there and again she was just catering to he table of 4 next to us i.e. a dad a mom n 2 children. We still sit there nothing. As we get frustrated i say well forget it and we get up to pay the chicken in my salad was dry any way and the waitress was horrible. We get to the register and the lady says to hold on so I guess Every waitress cashes themselves out. Then a little while later our waitress with (pink hair) shows up to cash us out how convenient. Well 1st and last time we're going over there I don't recommend and I did not leave a tip for a waitress like that who totally ignored our table came 1 for drinks 2 to drop off food 5 min later if we needed anything. Food wise the chicken in the salad was so dry felt like a dog treat the tacos the shells r like the ones u buy at heb in the box the beans tasted like can beans on the bright side the lemonade and rice and cheese enchiladas were good. Next time be more courteous and attentive to your table and don't discriminate just cause you see a table with a mom n 2 kids and go to the table where u see more ppl just for your tip! $$ Will not...
Read moreI hate that this is a poor review, I hope it helps and is constructive though because I'm a huge fan of las palapas. First, my food experience is always good, the issue this location has is the service and professionalism. The past three visits I always ask for queso at the begining and then for my meal I get cheese enchiladas, and the servers never write down the orders. The queso never comes unless I follow up on it. The enchiladas never come with the tortillas, it's always something that has to be brought later, if it's remembered at all. Getting a refill is also a struggle, and it's never remembered what my drink is. Then also, the whole time that you are waiting for service, you see 4 to 5 members of staff standing around the checkout counter talking, hugging, laughing, oblivious to the guests, while maybe we're checked on once every 20 minutes. I'm glad that they seem to like their workplace, but at the same time it seems like the staff don't see it as a workplace, but a place to hang out for a check doing the bare minimum.
This final visit, I had to wait 15 minutes for my missing tortillas, never received my queso, never had a refill, and my wife's bar drinks never showed up but the server asked if we had received it? It painfully is my last time going here for a while, I hope it gets better eventually, I was so happy when they finally opened here, but if this is the route it's going after 3 visits over the past month, it won't last or grow/retain...
