Beautiful Rooms & Amenities that are POORLY MANAGED by the University. I'll be giving a full-on review about what it was like to live on-campus for roughly 2 academic years.
HOUSING ACCOMODATIONS: Poor ventilation of A/C, all apartments are restricted to 75F with a digital lock on the thermostat Some may even have a plastic physical lock on top. Overall, the rooms themselves are adequately circulating air, but that cannot be said for the common areas outside & the hallways. Very musty and stuffy in the building, especially the laundromat and elevator in the summer. It's like you're in an oven. A high risk for anyone that's sensitive to the heat past 100F, anyone can easily get a heat stroke.
Pool was closed the ENTIRE semester of Fall 2024, even during the extreme heat waves in the summer. Staff did nothing to fix the pool and still continue to do so, despite students paying for the amenity. (They claim it's a mold issue and need someone specific to do it, but in the past semesters several pool cleaning companies came weekly and maintained the pool perfectly fine. Not sure why they can't continue?)
Pool continues to be closed and students often dump trash into the water, worsening the situation. Some of them I've seen are RA's or apart of the housing department that host events. It's become common that it's a sad sight.
Trash Enforcement: Some students here are very lazy when it comes to trash. Often times just leave it in the balcony and attract wild animals.
Housing staff doesn't enforce smoking policies per Handbook rules. If you're health-sensitive like me towards smoke, they simply do not care for you. I had put several complaints about a student living below me constantly smoking, and whenever my window or balcony door was left open, all of that smoke would enter. I even sent an email the admins, but they simply don't care or do anything, they're just there for the paycheck. Why bother put rules if you're not gonna enforce it?
Housing Arrangements: Won't always the best in terms of roommates. Many of them lie on the application and turn out to be a disaster, which was my situation in 2023. Lots of the students that go here are obnoxiously loud, drink and party often, which sucks when you wanna study. Just be careful in selecting your roommates and do further research on each of them or you'll end up miserable.
4 bed/4 bath Housing: Only 1 building supplies this layout, all the other 2 major buildings are 4 bed/ 2 bath. So unless you apply super early, you'll most likely have to share your bathroom but you'll be given your own bedroom for sure.
Maintenance: Never had an issue with the staff that are responsible for maintenance, such as updating A/C filters, fixing broken blinds and attending any issues you have in your apartment. Each guy was very sweet and prompt in fixing issues I had so cheers to them!! Probably the only dept I respect :)
Move in Cleanliness: Not all rooms are properly cleaned prior to move in. My last recent roommates all received dirty bedrooms/bathrooms that needed to be deep cleaned, examples would be large unknown stains left on the mattresses and bloody pads or tampons left in the bathroom floor. Despite the university claiming they will input fees upon move out if its not cleaned properly, they don't truly enforce it. So you could most likely end up moving into a dirty room, just like mine that had poop stains on the wall by the toilet, yuck!
(FYI, the dirty stuff left behind were from the problematic girl roommates I had in 2023. Careful when choosing guys!!!)
Overall, I managed to make the dump of a dorm a comfy, cozy spot I could call mine. Had a nice view of the pool and a big tree covering my window and balcony on the 3rd floor.
To whoever gets my old room, hope it goes well for you. 🤍 Enjoy the view and I hope future students don't have to deal with all this bs that I went through, given how much we give to the university. Definitely needed to express my experience for the next students that plan on attending and...
Read moreI have daughters that walk by the school every day to go to the high school, and it seems pretty safe. It is crazy getting there in the early morning hours and around 1. So if you're running behind Be careful because the traffic getting to the school and the traffic leaving the school is horrendous.
There are plenty of places around the school to grab a bite to eat, what I don't like is there are not very many places to have for entertainment around the school on the campus they have more but around the campus they have very few entertainment things to do.
They have decent food but there is much...
Read moreMy daughter just moved into University Village on Sunday. The complex is very nice from the outside. When we got to her dorm room it was filthy. Smells like rotting fish, couch and chair are nasty, bathroom floor dirty and sticky, vents all have dust balls hanging off of them. You can tell this place had NEVER been cleaned. I felt horrible leaving my child in such filth. For as much as it is costing for her to live her I expected so much better. Very, very, very disappointed in...
