I absolutely adore this place and would usually swing by when I was having a rough time or if I needed to satisfy my sushi craving. In recent times, the service has been altered to maintain a safe environment, in my opinion. I stopped by last week and the door had a visible “please wear a mask inside” sign, the entrance itself was limited to a small space so as to prevent crowding, there were markings on the floor to keep customers separated and there was the biggest bottle of hand sanitizer available for use. I called for takeout and was told it would take 15-20 minutes, but was called about 10 minutes afterwards, they have very quick service. On top of that, the restaurant has been offering its food via Doordash delivery. Beware, they are charging gratuity, as many have pointed out, for takeout.
If there is one thing to complain about, it’s the price. Unfortunately, they do not have a website and most of the information about the menu is only available via customer reviews. Recently, there has been an increase in price, which is understandable due to current circumstances, however, it would have been nice to know beforehand or to have a reliable and easily accessible menu to use as reference. My usual $11.95 roll was almost $16 when I recently ordered. It’s unfortunate because I love this place, the quality of their food and their service, yet, I felt like I was lied to, especially after raving about their fair prices to others. To add insult to the injury, Doordash’s listed prices reflect pre-pandemic prices. I recommend the restaurant to create reliable communication with customers, such as on social media, where we can all be updated in real time.
Overall, what to take away from this review: Food quality and service: A+, delicious food, sanitary environment Current price: C-, you can find cheaper prices in the area Should you come here? Perhaps for a single person lunch, however, a family meal would burn a hole through your wallet. Hold off on a family sushi dinner/lunch until after all this blows over and prices go back to normal...
Read moreOrdered food so my husband could pick it up after a 10 hour workday. I called in at 6:02 and asked how long the wait would be for an order and was told about 15-20 minutes for what I wanted. I specifically requested it be ready around 6:35 or literally anytime after due to my husbands eta and not wanting what we ordered to be sitting there for 20 minutes getting warm. I let Sam or Sue whoever was answering know that even if my husband had to wait a while that was perfectly fine just to please have them wait to make it. We aren’t picking the order up, they called my husband to tell him it was ready at 6:19. I understand that they can get busy but we’re paying customers just like the ones who dine in and waiting was perfectly okay with us so long as the food didn’t get warm. I called back and requested to speak with the manager, Sue or Sam asked me why I wanted to talk to the manager and asked if it was for a complaint. I told her I just need to speak to the manager and she said he was busy. So now I’m here letting it be known that we will not be paying for warm sushi and that my simple request of waiting is why. Ordering from...
Read moreUpdate 1 March 2019: not sure what has happened but the last two visits have made me drop my score from a 5 to a 3. Today's trip was the worst. My baked roll took forever (like usual I called in; was told 15 minutes, which is about how long it takes me to get there; it took that plus another 20) and when I opened it, part was over-done (like crispy, as if it had been heated fast with a torch), part was cold, and it was dumped in the container as if was left overs. My boyfriend's dinner plate was half cold as well, as if it had been done 10 minutes before I got there. But that wasn't the worst. His order was partially incorrect: there were panko shrimp in what was supposed to be his California roll. And he is very allergic to shellfish.
I am very sad and disappointed because R&R has been my close-by home go-to. Guess I will have to find a new spot.
Previous review: R&R is one of the best hidden secrets in town. The food is wonderful and so are those who work there! It is a small establishment near CSUSB so be prepared! You might think of calling ahead to order if you don't want to wait, but...
