This is quite a nice museum. The building is quite unassuming so you do not know what to expect. When we came in shortly after the museum opened, there was a docent that took us around and told us the history of aviation in general and specifically in the Bay area. I was quite impressed at the variety of displays and the signage is done well. I was with two other people and we quite enjoyed ourselves. We came on a Wednesday which happens to be a day that food trucks are in the parking lot. We had lunch and resumed our viewing in the museum. The museum can have a large number of kids that are brought to the museum via school buses. On the day we were there, the children left at lunch time so we pretty much had the museum to ourselves and a few others after lunch. The three of us sat in a 747 cockpit from one of the earlier models. We quite enjoyed studying every gauge, every switch, and every instrument in the cockpit. It took over an hour for the three of us to become satisfied that we had an excellent understanding of what was going on with regard to all of the controls of the pilots and the flight engineer. If you are into aviation, I think it's easy to spend four or five hours here. If you are not a real aviation fan, then I would say an hour or two might be enough. Another thing that's going on with Hillary aviation is that on the weekends they have quite a number of activities that are oriented around youth. I have a really good feeling that this museum understands how it can contribute to the community. I give high marks to the management team...

If you're an aviation junkie or have kids who love aircraft and space, the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos, CA, is a must-visit! I recently visited with my daughter, who's a huge NASA and space fan, and we had an incredible time.
The museum is packed with engaging and educational exhibits for all ages. My daughter loved the interactive cockpit experience, and seeing Neil Armstrong's suit was a highlight! The hands-on exhibits and simulators kept us both entertained and educated.
For parents, there are comfortable stations to sit and relax, and they even play football games on Sundays. There are also booths where kids can play games and do art activities, making it a fun and interactive experience for everyone.
The museum is very affordable, with an entrance fee of around $22. Parking is easy, with plenty of spaces available. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a great visit.
One tip: accompany younger children as the museum is quite large and it's easy to get lost. Overall, this is a fantastic destination for families, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone interested in America's aviation history. Highly recommended!
Pros:
Engaging exhibits for all ages Interactive cockpit and simulators Neil Armstrong's suit on display Comfortable seating for parents Affordable entrance fee Plenty of parking
Cons: None!
We'll definitely be back! Don't miss out on this hidden gem.

Read moreI took my 2 toddlers here. They had just got on the helicopter when one of the male volunteers walked up and said can you get off I have a class to teach. I was in the backseat and I am pretty sure he didn't see me as I was appalled he was speaking to my 2 and 3 year old like that. I informed him we had paid for the admission and they were checking out the helicopter. He then addressed me and asked if they were done yet. I then told him that they had just got in. He turned to a field trip group of elementary aged kids and said I guess we have to wait bc apparently they paid to get into the museum. My oldest felt very uncomfortable at that point and asked to leave. I was told he was a volunteer at the museum as I got my refund and left.
Just an edit to clear some things up. Your volunteer could have said "oh excuse me. This helicopter is only used for educational school groups. Someone may have left it open. I am sorry." We would have immediately got out and left, but instead he said "Can you just get out. I have a class to teach." Speaking to a 2 and 3 year old.
I did address this with the 2 ladies up front. Neither of them immediately apologized or offered these free museum passes you said I declined. In fact the apology I received was when she was refunding my admission so we could leave. "I'm sorry you had to experience that." Neither offered to get someone in management or seemed too bothered so I did in fact think a...
