I brought my kitty Piper in today for her long awaited appointment at the dermatology clinic. We were promptly greeted and checked in. The waiting room was very calm and we were the only ones waiting at the time which Piper enjoyed. We were promptly taken back to an exam room at our scheduled appointment time. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. The exam room was clean and specifically designed for cats which I loved as so many vets fail to consider cats special needs. (For example there was a little cat hammock on the wall which I thought was so cute). Dr. Parnell-Turner came into the room shortly after we got settled. I really appreciated that she took a look at all the records and paperwork I submitted prior to the appointment. I felt that that really allowed us to utilize our time efficiently. Sometimes I feel you do all this paperwork before an appointment just to have to verbally say all the same things over again, in this exam I didn’t feel this way and felt the doctor really took the time to care about my cat’s specific history to make an informed decision of next steps. Dr. Parnell-Turner was extremely kind and knowledgeable. Both Piper and I felt at ease. The technologist that worked with us was also an absolute gem (I’m sorry I don’t remember your name!). Piper got blood work and we got the results all at the same appointment which I also thought was incredible. Pricing and options of medications were all explained well and I felt at the end of the appointment we had a very good plan that was individualized to my cat’s specific needs. I felt the exam was well worth the price and the wait. This isn’t just a 15 minute exam like at a regular vet. We were there for over an hour and most of that time was spent face to face with the doctor. And I think that’s necessary for this kind of speciality as it’s so complicated and there are so many factors to consider. I also felt like the price I was quoted for allergy testing and allergy shots was a way more reasonable price than I was expecting (around $1500). All in all—yes you will have to wait a couple months to get in for a consult; yes it will be expensive; but also YES you will get really awesome care for your pet. I highly recommend...
Read moreAfter 1 year of treatment, multiple tests, numerous visits ,various medications, from shots, to creams, to pills and wipes, and thousands of dollars ($2600+ to be exact) there was still no successful outcome of resolution for my cat’s incessant over grooming. My cat’s unresolved issue continued to persist and sadly endured until she passed. I was beside myself that even with the help of these so called “specialists/professionals”, I could not help her from her (over grooming) misery. And all Animal Dermatology could offer me was “let’s do more tests” or “it’s springtime and difficult for the medication to fully work in these conditions”. Fast forward to my brand new kitten, who after a month of having, started to display the exact same symptoms of relentless licking and biting. As an average human, not a Dr of animal dermatology, I figured out the common denominator, it was the cat litter! The brand that’s sold at Costco, Scoop Away, is so fine and filled with chemicals and perfumes that it apparently settles into the cats fur and causes allergic reactions; so sad and tragic and I would think a simple suggestion to offer up from these so called “specialists” as an option and/or solution. Not once, did any of the Dr’s (and I saw 3) ever suggested trying another cat litter. They suggested changing food, but never was cat litter even mentioned. I am livid with this organization, a business that is supposed to be in the field of helping animals and all that it appears to me, is they are in the business of making money! I called them recently, after figuring out this discovery to ask why such a simple option was never suggested as a viable alternative/solution, but not much care and compassion coming from their Practice Manager, Beth. Save your money before using this establishment as healthcare for your cats, especially if they are over grooming and excessively cleaning themselves, try a dust free litter…you’ll be glad you did, you're welcome. **1st pic, Yoli Oct. 2021 **2nd pic Yoli Nov. 2022 - 1 year...
