Now that I have visited La Jolla Cove I can see why everyone lists this place as top 10 places to visit in southern California. There is so much to do here that you can easily spend a weekend enjoying the area. There are tons of condos, restaurants and hotels in the area that will accommodate your trip here. The cove is very picturesque. you can walk along Coast Blvd and take in the sights of the cove, the wildlife, all the kayakers and scuba divers trying to sneak a close peak at the seals. There is a wonderful picnic area at the Point la Jolla where you can grab any of the tables sitting within the trees to have some what private table to yourself. The rocks along the point are also great for pictures. there is shell beach further away from the rocky point but really you can just enjoy the ocean view on Boomer beach and take lots of photos. if you feel more adventurous you can swim la Jolla cove, and many do.. the cove offers protection from the open ocean and lots of families snorkel and splash around in the cove. There is a Coast guard life guard stationed there so its safe to go in. There is tons of wildlife here .. seals, birds and all that brings with it a foul smell.. now its not that bad... but its definitely noticeable. We spent time watching the sea lions lounging on the rocks, listening to their calls echo across the cove. It’s one of those rare places where you can observe marine life so closely and naturally.
