Seal Rock

The seals here are exquisite and have been protected for 5 years by a local ordinance. Hopefully they will remain protected and have a peaceful place to rest. The volunteer guides explained some seals die when the humans come too close on the beach side and then the seals fear coming ashore. They get too tired treading water. So the best way to respect them is to give the seals a lot of space. Trying to get a close up shot is potentially dangerous to them. Seals are less agressive than their cousins the sea lions about 1/8th of a mile north along the path. See photo with flyer about the difference between seals and sea lions.
