You ever tell a friend that if they saw you running, they should run as well? Yep... well... that's me! I've never truly exercised because I would hurt too much. I would twist things, pop joints out of place, and just be a general mess. I figured it just wasn't for me.
Physical therapists would watch me for a few visits, but the things I did hurt - so I didn't keep up with it. Not sore, but actual pain. I've seen eighteen (18) medical professionals over the course of ten (10) years and, in one session, Steven spotted fundamental issues that had slipped through the cracks. Since he explained everything to me thoroughly - I now know what I need to work on in my everyday movement.
Steven is teaching me how to relearn my movements with incredible detail. I'm talking about learning to sit, stand, and walk better... how to make myself stronger. Prior to starting, he made me, a non-gym-going person, do some activities to assess what I needed help with. I wasn't intimidated at all. What a relief!
He was phenomenal and modified several exercises for my limited strength after so many years spent incapacitated, lying in bed, and hunched over with pain. When it came to my various autoimmune, nervous system, and hypermobility issues - all of it was taken into consideration without me feeling embarrassed. My pain levels have dropped immensely. I especially love that I can do the exercises he's taught me, so far, almost anywhere.
I wasn't interested in reaching aesthetic body goals - just moving better to reduce pain. By correcting my movements, I was able to noticeably reduce my embarrassing bra bulge and define abs that I never knew I could have!! WHAAAT!?!?!!!!

I recently retired from active duty (as in the case of many, with lingering injuries) and was searching for an intimate place to work out. A good friend recommended Landform Fitness because of the group training sessions (offered free to veterans). It has been over six months since I joined, and I could not be happier with my progress. I initially went for the free group sessions but have enjoyed coming here so much that I signed up for the standard membership!
Steven and his staff have blown me away with their professionalism, knowledge, and approachability (special thanks to Aaron, Tracy, & Devin). As many here have stated, they take the time to explain and demonstrate the proper form for each exercise and provide alternate workouts to accommodate those with mobility issues. The primary focus is on the science of working out, and exercise programs are tailored accordingly. They also offer one-on-one evaluations to help target specific problem areas as needed.
Tracking your workout progress is a breeze with the TrueCoach app, a tool employed at the gym. The app is updated weekly with new workout schedules. Also, it displays short exercise demos you can refer to in the rare event a staff member isn't immediately available to assist.
The gym is intimate (which I prefer) with plenty of equipment to share. The staff and regular gym members are friendly, which helps maintain a sense of community. If 24hr Fitness is the Walmart of gyms, Landform Fitness is the dependable bodega around the corner with an owner that knows your name and you look forward to visiting after a long day at work.
I want to keep this gym a secret, but Steven and his staff deserve a 5-star rating for their work to make the client experience...

Such a great smaller gym. Definitely more of a "Everyday Joe" style gym vs. "Globo gym". It's currently what I would call "semi-private" with all-day secured access.
Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to be there to help the members get the most of their membership. Trainers are always making micro adjustments to planned training sessions to maximize your performance based on those ever changing and unexpected factors so you always feel accomplished at the end of the session. They really know how to explain not only the 'how' of an exercise as well as the 'WHY' they've included it in your workout plan.
Masks and hand sanitizer are available during this pandemic should you need any. Rarely is there more than 3 people working out at any time I've been, so plenty of space to socially distance. Cleaning products are really available to re-sanitize your equipment when done using it keep things ready for the next use.
The owner/mascot Stumps always runs up, tail wagging, to greet you when he's on the job and occasionally does rounds, (politely) demanding pets from anyone in between sets, to make sure everything is in order. Feeling slightly under inspired to get your heart rate up? He's there to encourage you with a friendly face and some tug-of-war.
Considering the QUALITY of access, training, and classes available compared to Globo Gyms, the monthly membership is VERY reasonable!
