We had occasion in 2013, to use Set-In-Stone to polish a marble vanity with a deep circular etching from a glass placed on the marble. The worker was very efficient and removed the etching completely. 12 years and a different home later, after receiving other referrals, I found David Aardema's Set-In-Stone telephone number in my contacts. He came to our home to address issues with a couple of chips in our new quartzite kitchen counters, etchings in the marble on the bathroom, a broken soap shelf in the travertine shower as well has filling and polishing the travertine floors. David provided me an estimate for the entire job and worked with me on a date for the work to be performed. The corner shower shelf was made of two slabs of travertine, secured to the wall with a steel biscuit and epoxy. The biscuit had rusted through in the 35 years since the home was built. During the sleeping hours the bottom half of the self crashed to the floor and was in pieces. I had taped the pieces together the best I could, for someone to use as a template to cut another shelf. David said the pieces could be put back together with epoxy, saving the cost of recutting a piece of travertine. The shower shelf and the chips in the quartzite kitchen counters were repaired by Robert Skidmore. Without a magnifying glass, neither the broken shelf or the chips in the quartzite are are visible. Byron recaulked the shower, polished the marble surfaces in the master bathroom and polished the travertine floor in the kitchen and addressed some other minor issues. The work performed by both men was Excellent! The result better than expected. After finishing a 2022 remodel and seeing the contractor's use of another company to finish the kitchen stone, I was even more impressed with Set-In-Stone. These are...
Read moreDavid Aardema was our initial contact who came to give us an estimate for cleaning approximately 1,000 square feet of tile in our home. He accommodated our schedules readily and arrived right on time for the free estimate. The cost was in-line with two other estimates we received for the same work. We made our decision on the reviews found on-line and his presentation covering what work would be done and the precautions that would be taken to protect our walls and other effects in the house. Two delays occurred due to factors beyond anyone’s control and David worked very hard to make sure the adjustments would be of the least inconvenience possible. On the day of the service, Isaac and Byron arrived on time. They listened carefully to any concerns we had, answered all the questions we still had about the work, and made several suggestions to ease the process and ensure our satisfactions with the cleaning. They were not only able to do a great job cleaning and sealing the tile and grout, but they also went well beyond what was contracted by addressing additional issues with the tile. Some of the grout was of uneven and contrasting color due, apparently, to subsequent previous repairs. They were able to provide a matching cover color which made the mismatched areas appear very similar to the rest of the grout. They also replaced some deteriorating grout and patched a cracked tile. They also caulked the kitchen sink which had a gap between the granite counter and sealed and polished the granite counters! Everything looked like it had been newly installed after they finished. Read moreDavid and his team did a project for us that included cleaning, sealing, and repairs to a wide variety of stonework (marble, quartzite and limestone) in a variety of locations (showers, countertops, flooring (inside and outside). Cesar was the project lead with Robert, Byron, (and one team member who's name escapes me at the moment) providing support. The entire team was very friendly, courteous and professional.
The price was competitive amongst the three estimates that we received. David provided his very detailed quotation promptly along with his perspective regarding what needed work, the type of work he proposed and what did not require any work at this time which allowed us to pick and choose between the options. David worked to squeeze our project in to meet our tight schedule and the team did an outstanding job. All adjacent areas were taped to protect the surfaces, repairs were very well done, the Set-in-Stone team moved furniture (and were very carful in doing so) and the final result was truly fantastic.
We would not hesitate to use Set-in-Stone for future projects and sincerely...
