Sleazy and ableist employees enforcing ridiculous parking fees on disabled people here. I came to Torrey Pines beach with someone who was disabled. The south parking lot did not have an accessible route to the beach at all. I discovered this only after paying for parking at the machine.
One of the beach/park staff told me to drive to the north parking lot instead (this one) and show them my south parking pass and they should let me park at no extra cost. They refused to acknowledge my pass and made me pay another $25 to get in. A ranger cop had to ask them to reimburse me, in which they obliged and said they would mail me a check in ā4-6 weeksā even though I paid them with card. Itās 2 months later and no check in the mail.
Please just go to Del Mar beach down the street instead - itās far more accessible and you wonāt have to deal with...
