When I started writing this review several months ago and I was figuring out what to say, I came across a word so profound it stuck with me like dog hairs. At that moment I had many things to say, then life and the biggest shut down in the world happened and my thoughts remained dormant. So now, after several months, I am back and the word I came across was (drumroll please) Shinrin-Yoku. A japanese word, when translated it means "forest bath". Kind of like sunbathing, forest bathing is the deliberate act of immersing yourself in the smells, sounds, and textures of the forest. When you do this the psychological, physical, and emotional effects are profound. You feel better. You sleep better. And, most importantly, your stress and worries fade away. Nothing but positives and all this for free. When I originally came to Bonelli Park, I wanted to do a photohike. I wanted to walk around somewhere arduous. I wanted to find a spot no one had seen before and immortalize it with a picture. After a couple of hours, none of that happened, but after all that walking in nature I did feel better and my soul felt lighter. Located in San Dimas, Bonelli Park offers many activities from hiking, to camping, and from kayaking to boating. I highly recommend coming to this park, but if you can't go, go to park nearest you. Get out and...
Read moreThis is a review and info for boating on the lake not the overall park. Good place to come and relax/test out the boat on the water without burning through a tank of gas to get to it but that's about it. Cost of launch fee and parking has risen to $24. Since this is a County run facility you have ask why and where are our tax dollars going. You have to go through an extensive inspection for safety and zebra mussels (if your boat is wet inside you will be denied entry for 2 weeks). I know we have to do our best to prevent invasive pests but no one else does this and we pay a fee on our boats for the extra costs of their removal (zebra sticker). Once on the water there is no less than 3 patrol boats scrutinizing every single thing you do. Absolutely absurd for a tiny reservoir this size and again not seen really anywhere else. They constantly approach and bother when you are doing nothing wrong. On their 3rd approach it started to get me upset. Entire lake is no wake except for a speed zone that is split on summer weekends days between PWCs and Boats so check before...
Read moreWith the many visitors who attend the Park on the weekend and cooperate in following the Covid-19 guidelines, the Park still can't keep enough restrooms open to allow paid customers to use them. This puts a drag on eating at those hearty BBQ picnics & enjoying all that delicious party food by the Lake seeing that it will take some time to walk quite a distance just to get to the nearest restroom. Let's not forget about our elderly nor those who have medical problems. How long it will take them to get to/from the restroom? Why don't you do us patrons of Bonelli Park/Puddingstone Lake a favor by opening up more restrooms, at least, on the weekends and/or when it is very busy? Keeping one restroom open located over by the Boat Rental Parking Lot isn't enough since you are enforcing that noone except boat rentals be able to park in it. That just isn't fair. Thanks for looking out for your paying patrons. Keep up...
