Warning: the southern trailhead to the Batteries-to-Bluffs trail was closed in early 2017 due to trail damage from the previous winter's storms. Unknown when it will reopen.
This is a short, extremely scenic walking trail along the cliffside between Baker Beach and the Golden Gate Bridge. Lots of fantastic view of the bridge from the west side as well views of the Pacific Ocean and Marin, especially on sunny days (spring and fall). Walkers only on this trail; no bicycles or dogs. The trail is short, but there are lots of stairs and hills. We usually start at Lands End (near the Cliff House) and walk from Lands End to Sea Cliff and Baker Beach, then up the Sand Ladder to this trailhead. Then continue to the Golden Gate Bridge and catch the bus home from there.

No. Apparently this area and many other nearby tourist spots all in the city are the perfect target for thieves to destroy your rental car and steal your stuff. This happened to us and to at least four other people in the area in less than 30 minutes. Think twice before coming here and think twice before visiting San Francisco, are you really okay with not feeling safe in your own parked and locked car? Also if you think the police will help they won’t even drive out to you to take a report, they instead do everything over the phone and will start doing it online since it happens so often.
