Potrero del Sol Skatepark — Attraction in San Francisco

Great place to sk8, kiddie park for small ones, plenty of room for pets to run. Negatives : Best to steer clear of when the Sun is going down, especially if you have small children as they're some rough types, drug dealers, gang activity in the past, complete with gunshots. Homeless population & associated problems & really no restroom or children diaper changing facilities you can count on being open & they're gross when they are. Overall, during the day on weekends it is generally pretty smooth. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR BELONGINGS...

This skate park looks great. I think the art/graffiti adds to its character. Lots of people were using it- adults, teenagers, and children alike. Seems like all age groups and skill levels can use it, for the most part. The skate park is big and takes up lots of space. I don’t usually see skateparks this large (granted, I haven’t seen a lot). I don’t know what it’s like to actually use the skatepark, since I don’t skate, but others seemed to be enjoying themselves....

The ground is smooth and it's easy to skate fast. The bowl is a lot of fun and the last time I was there someone had epoxied the coping. The down side is that it gets crowded easily compared to the size of the park. More than 3 people skating at once means you'll crash into each other. It's a classic SF park that you gotta skate at...
