J & E — Restaurant in San Francisco

I visited E & J with high hopes of trying their pan-fried noodles, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.

Firstly, when I called to place my order, the worker on the phone seemed impatient and unfriendly, clearly annoyed by my questions. Despite this, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and proceeded with my order.

Upon picking up my food and returning home, I eagerly dug into the pan-fried noodles, only to be met with sheer disappointment. The noodles had a watery consistency that was far from appetizing, and the taste was completely bland and unremarkable.

Overall, I regret spending my money here and would strongly discourage anyone else from doing the same. E & J failed to meet even the most basic expectations, and I will certainly not be returning.

Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a better...

Just ok. I tried J&E when visiting SF general, and I got General's Chicken with Fried Rice (左公雞炒飯 -- different name on the menu).

It was a good portion, but I was not a fan of the rice. Very saucy / oily and it was only fried with green onions; maybe I should've asked for veggie fried rice or something.

As far as the chicken, it had a strong citrus flavor, but I prefer it a little spicier. The sauce was watery -- maybe it was mixing with the oil/sauce on the rice -- and I prefer it just a bit thicker to mix with the rice after finishing the meat. In this case, the rice was already too wet / heavy.

Not sure I will try J&E again anytime soon, but if I do, I'll be careful and try something else...

Great place for cheap and hearty meals. Mind you this is not a standard Chinese restaurant but closer to the classic hole in the wall kinda of deal. Think of it almost like the classic Chinatown style restaurant. Great place for a quick bite at lunch or dinner. They cook the food fast and I didn't have the thirsty msg feeling hours later. So for its taste and portions, I definitely would recommend for takeout, quick hearty meals, or if you are craving some classic Chinese food.

On the other hand, I would not recommend the burgers. ... although it is interesting to see it on there. If you feeling adventurous, try it and put down a review...
