Cannery Row has lost its mojo... Mostly shops that now cater to the tourist trade and a very commercial vibe dominates the ethos out on the streets and sidewalks. Not many "organic mom and pop" stores and shops left anymore. Mostly, just modern trendy upscale and expensive "gift shops". The view is still worth taking in though. Nice museum at far end. At least, one operating fish company. One does encounter a genuinely cool shop here and there, as they make their progress walking down the "Row". A beautiful small park and dockside cove contains a statue honoring John Steinbeck and affords a stunning view. Most of the beautiful old historical structures were lost in a catastrophic fire. One has to struggle and use their imagination to picture it as it was in Steinbeck's era. Sadly, the "restoration" has the feel of the Las Vegas casino faux...

One of the few large areas that escaped complete destruction in the San Francisco Earthquake, the Cannery was operated by Del Monte until 1937.

It was ok, the bartender was friendly enough but they didn't have Bacardi or absolute that my wife and i wanted, and we were charged $19 for 2 well drinks, since we didn't have other options. This bar has a max occupancy of 398, yet they have only one bathroom with one toilet. 👎 Was not impressed...
