Kitchen Design Services — Attraction in San Jose

I wish I could give 10 stars as a rating for KDS, as working with them was nothing but an amazing experience.

We met with KDS through our general contractor to order cabinets for the remodel of our kitchen, master bath, & laundry room. Working with Kevin and Ariana was such a joy! They are both so easy to work with and have GREAT vision. We had been working with our GC designer for the kitchen arrangement, and at our first meeting, KDS helped us make a few changes of appliances that made the arrangement even better. They helped make a more efficient workspace, as well as created a BEAUTIFUL focal point which with the original plan would not have happened. They helped us think outside the box and today I have a kitchen that is both efficient and beautiful.

Our original pantry had to be moved with our new kitchen layout so KDS suggested pull out shelves in cabinets. This arrangement has made storing food even better, and doubled the existing pantry space. They suggested many features that we hadn't thought of (a knife drawer, blind corner pull out shelves, dish drawer, utensil dividers) and all of these have been so worthwhile. We have looked for similar aftermarket items, and have not seen anything as great as what we have. We are so thankful they had the vision to help us save time and money, in the end, getting a great product.

Making our color and material selections was easy thanks to the KDS showroom. They had great samples in the showroom so that we could feel and touch many of the accessories, wood choices, colors and styles. They were generous to share many different color samples so that we could narrow down our countertop, tile, and floor selections.

The quality of the product is excellent! The cabinets were delivered painted so this saved any problems that may have come up painting them on site. They are easy to keep clean and look amazing.

Through the design phase of our project, Kevin and Ariana worked hard to get the design and measurements together quickly so that we could get the cabinets ordered early, so our project would not be delayed. A few pieces were damaged on the worksite after delivery, and KDS was quick to get them reordered and shipped keeping our project on time. They were good about keeping us updated on the delivery and coming out to the site to make sure everything we ordered was delivered.

Ariana was so responsive! if I thought of a question or had a change on the weekend, she would get back to me right away. She would send us a full rendering of our kitchen. Being a visual person, the room renderings were my favorite part of our home remodel. I knew without a doubt that the space would look amazing once it was finished. Even after we had framed the house, I was still making changes, and a quick text to Ariana would solve a problem and our bathroom vanity is even more perfect that I had hoped.

Our laundry room had tight space, and KDS helped us create an arrangement that provided lots of counter space, and plenty of storage. We love our new laundry room!

Several months after we moved in I had noticed that something wasn’t quite right with a few of our shelves. They quickly inspected the problem and realized the shelf was faulty and had them replaced. Kevin himself even came out to repair a pull-out shelf that was a little difficult to pull out, since I had overloaded it with canned goods! Customer service is A+ with KDS!

We hired Kevin of KDS to help us design our kitchen area for a remodel project after finding some very positive reviews on Houzz. We found Kevin to be very professional, organized, and detailed-oriented in his approach throughout all phases our project. Kevin is also a very good listener, which definitely helped our project get done correctly and meet our expectations. We were not sure if we really needed a designer, but after seeing the results we are sure glad we did!

We started by meeting Kevin at our house to view and discuss the project. Kevin asked us a lot of questions about how we use the space and what our goals were in terms of appearance and functionality. He then took some pictures and measurements and then carefully surveyed the area. Afterward, he provided us with a software-generated, 3-D rendition of the area which gave us a good idea of what the finished product would look like from several views before the project even started.

It is also noteworthy that Kevin helped us choose new kitchen cabinets as he is also a manufacturer's representative for Columbia cabinets and has a nice showroom in Santa Clara. Additionally, he gave us some referrals to help us choose our appliances.

With the most of the design phase complete, Kevin referred us to a general contractor he has worked with in the past whom we ended up hiring. Kevin and the general contractor even met with us at a local tile and stone supplier to select the granite for the counter top and the tiles for the floor and the back splash.

After the construction started, Kevin stopped by several times to answer any questions or discuss any problems that we or the contractor had. This definitely provides added value to the KDS design service package. Of course, Kevin also came by at the project's end to inspect the quality of the work.

Kevin Roessler at KDS is an innovative designer whom I can highly recommend for any project. Kevin really took the time to understand how we use our kitchen and then created the design accordingly. Kevin asked us about how many people are cooking typically at the same time, what needed to be within my reach (I am much shorter than my husband), how much space we needed/wanted for various activities (baking, pasta-making, etc.), how much storage was required (lots and lots), how much socializing happened in the kitchen and many more details that never would have crossed my mind. I will always remember being asked "where do you want your spices" and now I love having them in a drawer right next to the cook top easily accessible no matter what I am cooking (I thought everyone kept their spices in a cabinet).

Not only was Kevin creative and insightful, but he was also conscientious about our budget helping us make informed choices about each selection and giving us the time to refine the design so that it perfectly met our needs. There are so many options now for cabinetry, finishes, gadgetry, etc., that without an informed designer's expertise it can be overwhelming, but Kevin made it relatively easy.

We were also very pleased with his participation during construction. Kevin stayed with the project through installation and our move-in to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction.
