I booked the banquet hall for a double birthday party on July 11th for around 65-70 people. Honestly, our experience was a real mix of wonderful moments and some really frustrating ones.
We'd been to parties here before, so we knew there could be a couple of hiccups. We talked to the owner about it ahead of time, and he was nice enough to give us a discount. We picked out a great menu, used their decorator, and paid extra for advance tech setup, hoping everything would go smoothly.
Here's how it went:
The Good Stuff (5/5 Stars)
The Food Was Incredible: the food was the star of the event. Every single guest loved it. From the Mango Mint Mojito to the Samosa Chaat, everything was delicious. The main dishes like Dal Makhani and Paneer Tikka Masala tasted just right, and the Carrot Halwa and Mango Mousse for dessert were amazing. The cook really knew how to get the flavors perfect.
Handled a Surprise Crowd Perfectly: We ended up with way more guests than confirmed, but the kitchen and staff didn't miss a beat. They accommodated the extra people on requests. A huge thank you to the team for being so prepared!
Helpful and Kind Staff: The staff for our party were just great. We have to give a special shout-out to Raju. He was so patient and kind, and he really listened to everything we needed. He helped make the evening run smoothly.
What Went Wrong (2/5 Stars)
The Awkward Payment Demand: This was the worst part. We had already paid a deposit, but right when the party was starting and we were greeting our guests, we were asked to pay the entire remaining amount. The way they asked felt really pushy, almost like they wouldn't let the party continue if we didn't pay right then. It felt strange and unwelcoming—usually, you pay for everything at the end. It put a damper on the start of our celebration.
The Tech Didn't Work (Again): We had problems with the microphones at a previous party, so we told them about it beforehand and even paid for an upgrade. But it happened again. The mics kept dying and the sound quality was bad, which messed up some of the speeches and moments we had planned. Getting a discount doesn't really fix that as our special moments were interrupted. TV connectivity was poor.
It was hot that day and some of the fans were not working so I had to request the staff to open the door to cool it down as AC was not even taking temperature down.
Having to Chase Our Security Deposit: They're supposed to refund the security deposit within 7 days. When I didn't get it, I had to text them. They then told me to "request" to get it back. Why should we have to ask for our own money back? A business should automatically return a deposit once everything is settled. It's their responsibility, not ours.
Overall
Look, iGrill could be a perfect 10. The food is honestly amazing, probably some of the best event food around. But the whole experience was soured by the problems with the payment, the broken mics, AC issue, and the hassle with the security deposit.
We're sharing this because we really hope the management listens. If they can fix these basic issues with how they run things, this place would be one of the best spots to book for a party.
P.S. I deleted the old review to avoid confusion however a few things...
Read moreIf you're a fan of North Indian cuisine and find yourself yearning for the authentic flavors of Dilli wali Daal Makhani, Kadai paneer, Naan, and Kulcha, look no further. I can confidently assert that no other restaurant in the entire bay area can rival the impeccable Daal Makhani served here.
Recently, we organized a party at a venue in Milpitas that offers catering services from this restaurant. Let me tell you, the food was amazing and remains unparalleled among the North Indian fare I have enjoyed at parties in Bay Area.
BEFORE I FORGET, GOOGLE ASKED ME TO SHARE THE EXPERIENCE; So here it is: I hope many of us would be able to correlate.
In the bustling bay area, on a winter night, It was around 9 PM when I found myself engrossed in a conference call with colleagues from India. I promised myself not to eat anything after 7 PM, but fate had other plans. Just as I was contemplating my hunger, a notification from Doordash popped up, tempting me with a $5 credit. It seemed like the universe was conspiring to make me abandon my weight loss goals.
As the call dragged on, my hunger grew stronger. It was now 9:32 PM, and I couldn't resist the temptation any longer. Opening the Doordash app, I selected iGrill. Being a proud North Indian, I ordered Aloo Stuffed Kulcha, Daal Makhani, Paneer Chilli, and Kadai Paneer - all the delectable dishes I shouldn't indulge in.
Time passed slowly, and at 9:47 PM, The call continued, discussions dragging on, and hunger got stronger. Finally, at 9:55 PM, a knock on the door signaled the arrival of food angel (doordash delivery person) carrying my long-awaited feast.
At 10:00 PM, I started with Daal Makhani, accompanied by the heavenly Aloo kulcha. The first bite transported me to food heaven. In that moment, I longer cared about the consequences or the extra pounds I might gain. The explosion of flavors, the subtle hint of ajwain (Carrom seeds) from Kulcha, it was all worth it.
With each mouthful, I savored the Aloo Stuffed Kulcha, tasted the Paneer Chilli, and relished the rich flavors of Kadai Paneer. The food surpassed all my expectations, leaving me in a...
Read moreOverall the food is pretty good if going into dine in, but I booked a hall for a party but when you are booking and ask questions about the policies they don’t you tell all the hidden fees at the end. They can’t let you use the wall to decoration the bussing boy was a hidden fee the guy wasn’t even there for the entire time he would run to the front and leave the event and I could have to find him even though I was paying 50 dollars(hidden individual charge) per hour extra for him to be there I would after paid everything at the start in the end they had 250 in end for extra fees. I understand the employees aren’t making up the rules but these hidden fees are terrible and the party hall was mess even after they said it had been”cleaned” it was still dirty when we got there for our program tapes and other decorations all over the walls. I repeatedly saw their employees run to where the food was for the guest and put it in TO GO CONTAINERS for themselves, when we left I left outside and my sister asked the employee for a small to go box for the food (again I liked the food and even thanked the employees and chef)that we already paid for and the manager came to my sister and yelled at her because she couldn’t take the food in TO GO BOX given to us by his employee , he didn’t yell at me when I took the food. They didn’t cover the main course when they put it out early so the food stays warm. THEY DO NOT DISCLOSE ANY ALLERGIES IN THEIR FOODS TWO YOUNG KIDS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER BECAUSE ONE OF THE CURRIES HAD NUTS THEY NEVER MENTIONED THAT OR LABELED WITH FOOD BEING SERVED Overall this place ROBS you in...
