H-E-B plus! — Attraction in San Juan

I Nick on Christmas Eve read another letter written to Santa by my 5yr old daughter. In this letter she was now adding a power wheels toy on her wish list. I went on line and a local Wal-Mart had them in stock. While on my way to the Wal-Mart, I made a stop at My Local HEB to get last minute items for my families get together. As I walked in I observed nothing but toys right in the front entrance. While I was walking around browsing, I was approached by a Gentleman who identified himself as CARLOS. I asked if they had a power wheel and HEB sure did. There was one Barbie power wheel left. Carlos then told me the price and it was higher than what your local competitor. Carlos then asked me how much I saw it for. I then answered his question and he said no need to go over there. I will take care of you here. This gave me great appreciation for HEB and their employees. He went the extra mile to provide me with great customer service. As a General Manager myself for an Automotive Retailer, I know the importance of taking care of our customers, and getting to a yes. I informed Carlos if they can hold it for me while I shop around for the items that were needed from the store and he informed me that he would place it in the Electronics Department while I shop. When I was ready I headed over to the Electronics Department and asked to purchase this item. At this point from Carlos was not immediately available and other Managers got involved. Three other Managers came to the area and seemed hesitant to price match this item or back Carlos's decision. I really do believe Carlos did the right thing. I always shop in store at HEB San Juan, but in this particular instance, I went on a pick up run and was met with the nicest person. It was a very distracted, Saturday morning for me so I went to get pick up and hour before my time. That was totally on me, no excuses. I texted and the automated said they were still shopping for it. I then see a store shopper with a huge smile bringing out the groceries for the pick up section and decided to ask her, if I could wait for the rest of my time in vehicle or if I had to retext later etc... she was so friendly , checked on my order and how much more time was needed. She went to the back to check up on it and see what was needed. She went above and beyond to get it for me, even though it was my fault for being there at a totally different time. Won't be shopping for my meat here anymore. I did this time cause I was in the area, but I should have gone to Aguilar's meat market like I always do.. I am out of meat already after purchasing their meat. In 2 weeks. Prices were ok but Aguilar's gives you more for what they sell. And the meat is way better. Plus Walmart has better bundles in other foods. I never buy meat at Walmart , but for other things it's better family size packs. Lasts longer than regular size packs from HEB. Sorry but HEB is way to expensive. The only good thing about HEB is the veggies cheaper than anywhere else. That's all I have to comment about them now. Bye HEB!
