Very serene beach in an ideal area! This place made my Good Friday special! Back in Puerto Rico, I chose to stay in the less touristy area of Santurce (east of Condado) and walked just a few short blocks north and found this gem. The beach was very beautiful and expansive in both directions. It had a private and exclusive feel but fully accessible with roaming security presence. (Compared to beaches like in Jamaica that require a fee to access and close access early in the evening.) As a night owl, my first visit was late Friday night and I stayed well after midnight watching the waves, the stars - Big Dipper was in full view, and the moon. I didn't want to leave (would have slept out there) but returned around 5 am to watch the sun rise. I was greeted by a friendly group of dogs (thank you white pitbull who suprise licked me hello.) Upon leaving, I could explore the neighboring gated community better and loved the homes, I saw some really great investment and/or residential opportunities (I need to research further). Aside from the great people I seem to always encounter in San Juan and the history of Old San Juan, I enjoyed my first...

My wife and I have been to this beach many times over the years and is in a good location in the San Juan area near a lot of the major hotels. You can walk or jog a good distance along the water since there are not to many obstacles in your way. There are palm trees or an open sky if you choose to lay out there in the sand and get tanned (or burned) your choice. You can do surf fishing, wake board, wind surfing, swimming, surfing or snorkeling (I go other places for snorkeling). The waves are not to bad in this area but depending on the time of the year you still need to watch out for under currents which are dangerous. I do not think there are any lifeguards in this are but I am not 100% sure since I have really never seen one or any lifeguard shack or stand. If you did not bring anything to eat or drink with you there are a few restaurants and convenience...
Read moreTo think I used to escape here as a teen. Back then, you had to walk to get to the water. Five years ago, I took a photo of my dad at this beach, under the shade of trees on its western side. Today, all if that is gone thanks to Maria and global warming. Crews have to remove the tons of sand deposited on the road any time the tide is record high. If you can recover from the shock of seeing it in this state, sit by the very low wall that runs along the road and listen to the ocean. This small stretch has always had a beautiful view. On any given day there is a popsicle vendor and a few tourists, unaware of the danger lurking under the water’s surface in the winter months. Don’t swim at this beach if there is a strong current...
