Parque Dr. José Celso Barbosa — Attraction in San Juan

It is a shame, so many activities can be practiced at Barbosa but conditions are UNACCEPTABLE.

The above comment was made three years ago, but the conditions of the pista are the same. Tennis facility administrator have tried since her first day in charge, to keep them in good conditions. She is trying her best but has NEVER received help from Municipio de SJ. As usual, so much talk by the "Alcaldesa" but NOTHING is done by her and she pretends or is dreaming to became the Governor of PR. She has not been able to deal with SJ and hopes to deal with PR. A very local park with few tourists. Down to earth; park borders on a beach. Playing fields (baseball. Soccer. Basketball. Bathrooms and outdoor showers. Free car Parking and places to lock bicycles. A kiosco or ice cream vendor occasionally on beach. Neighbors walk running track on evening... random exercise classes show up also..weekends drumming might pop up. If you re a visitor with an attitude, keep it a few blocks down in Condado or Ocean Park. There is a bus stop right on the beach. Maybe the only such in San Juan. Please...

After 8 years of visiting Barbosa Park, I finally see it remodeled. It's beautiful. To keep it that way, they should hire a private company for proper maintenance. The reason I'm making this suggestion is that I was waiting 18 minutes to use the bathroom. Two employees were cleaning one bathroom. Seeing my long wait, one of them sat next to me, smoking a cigarette. Silently and quite annoyed, I left because I couldn't stand seeing those two jerks "working," as if it were a community service...
