Sunset Bowling Lanes — Attraction in San Marcos

On their website they claim in big bold letters "Now SMOKE FREE!!!". What they mean is that they no longer let their customers smoke inside but their employees sit in a back room near the intake to the air-handlers and pollute the indoor air with their cigarettes.

My wife, who is very allergic to smoke, was forced to leave the building so she could breath. There was no-one visible smoking near the lanes and the smoke seemed to be coming from the air-vents. My sister-in-law, who is also bothered by smoke, asked about the source of the smoke and determined that it was the employees smoking.

I am not normally one to complain to an establishment or to write an online review. I just don't come back. But, when I have paid $120 to have a family activity and a key member of the family cannot be there because the business failed to provide an advertised service I believe it is a big deal.

I asked the gaggle of 20 something men behind the counter if I could speak to the manager. One of them stepped forward and said that would be him. After I explained the situation and asked what he could do to make my wife happy because she was sitting in the car with difficulty breathing, he answered "Nothing".

He rattled off a further list of why smoke coming from the vents was my problem and why they would not change: They didn't have to comply with "that law" until April They couldn't smoke outside because they couldn't do there work from there They had to smoke in that room (presumable the one with the air intake) because the camera is there so they could watch the counter The business belongs to his family and they can run it how they want

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I called and made a reservation for my daughter's 14th birthday, 2 weeks in advance!!! I even called 3 days before to CONFIRM MY RESERVATION!!! I was assured everything was perfect!! Upon arrival for My daughter's party yesterday I was told I had "NO RESERVATION " BECAUSE THE INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEE who took down my reservation didn't ask me for PRE payment!!!! This Was no fault of mine!!! This Was the establishment and the employee's failure to be trained properly to on how to follow policies correctly!!! I was never told I needed to pre pay and I was fully available to pay the FULL amount if I knew that was the policy! Some dark haired lady with an Indian accent just basicaly could careless and as a "Manager " never offered to make it right, nor accommodate for HER employees mistake! She tried to even tell us we couldn't bring a "fancy" birthday cake, what was her opinion on fancy? we had the cake with us, ready to start the party. She did allow us to have it but was very RUDE and hesitant.This same dark haired woman with the accent kept harassing us during our bowling. She came over to us "a black family" several times enforcing rules to OUR lane and not to the "other race people" next to us. Food was great and so were the cooks, however the owner seemed to act as if it were still the 1960's and he had to begrudgingly take down the whites only only sign we were gocked at the entire night we were a group of 10 African Americans and 2 Caucasian malea We stayed there for a total of 3 hours While we were there we decided to use the jukebox in order to play our own music which was censored it was $5 in order to put 12 credits which will give us about 12 songs however we soon found that our Ethic music was too much for the bowling alley and our song started being skipped the owner also placed all the parties away from our side of the bowling alley on the far left end where we were the only party on the far right in at the end of the night he eventually put someone next to us and Said if they had any problems with us with us to let him know at the end of the night while we were Playing our last game he shut down the lane on us because apparently we were just standing around and not interacting with the bowling lane in commando we only had one more turn on our last game and we were about to leave overall only gave this 2 stars because of the cooks that were great however the owner was racist at least to our group of African Americans and we were the only ones that were happened to be...
