Pretty fun place to practice your skills. There are 3 mountain bike trails accessed through a short but steep climb, two of them are fun jump lines mostly table jumps but there are some gaps and step ups and it's mostly blue level terrain if you were somewhere like big bear. Some spots are extremely sandy and there are jumps in general that could be rethought or reshaped but all in all they're fun little trails. The pump track has 3 lines which you can pump or use as jumps. The track is fun but if you are on a full suspension mountain bike it will take some getting used to as it is built more for short wheel base bmx and dirt jump bikes. The placement of some of the rollers in close succession or right before a jump can make it difficult and awkward to pump on longer mountain bikes, but with practice and assuming you are a more advanced rider you can clear them if you really pull up on the lips. Sometimes there are a lot of kids there, which is fine as they normally stick to the smaller track for kids but eventually they make their way to the big track. Some are really great riders but often children are aimlessly cutting through the track, skipping turns, and causing damage to the lips and just getting in the way, falling over everywhere because they're simply too small for the track, but parents insist on watching their children struggle. I just wish the parents would teach better bike part etiquette, but I encourage you to bring your kids if they are ready because this is a great sport! Due to this though I recommend going on the weekdays to avoid the parents bringing their kids, it's usually pretty quiet. There is not much shade here so it gets really hot, there are some shade nets about 100 yards from the pump track, would be nice if there was one over the staging area. There is a water fountain in the parking lot and bathrooms which might be closed due to covid during this time. If you are worried about covid, riders generally do not...
Read morelet me start. all of the positive reviews on this place are mostly from parents who got their kids a Walmart bike and took them here for like 1 day or are people who have never been to any sort of dedicated bike park before and don't know what to expect. This place is in that area in which its not the best you an get but its better than nothing mainly due to mismanagement.
The reason for 3 stars, Corruption. the city only built this place to get people to stop asking for it. It was not built by anyone with BMX or MBT trail building experience or qualifications, rather a construction crew that was given a rough outline. That's not to mention that one of the 3 mountain bike trails there was already there before the park opened and they made changes to is that completely ruined the feel it had before. Additionally they concreted the berms on the BMX track a few months ago and its already cracking as the company who did it quoted the city for 3 days of work but did it all in one to get a bigger paycheck without regards to quality of work, also some trails aren't well maintained with one line having a berm switchback that is sandy and unrideable sure its apparently volunteer maintained but i do not think the people in charge of this have any idea of what they are doing.
Hopefully they figure it out and then expand the park up the Hill to the high school by integrating all of the trails people have built in the hills here prior to this place being put here...
Read moreIf you ride a lot of mountain bike trails around socal you'll be disappointed here. The lines at Sapwi bike park are much better designed and you can actually practice jumps there...
The mountain bike runs are very short with small features with somewhat poor flow. The "black" trail and the "red" trail both have potential but the 2nd half of both of them completely loses flow and speed. Especially the jump to flat(??) on the red trail that kills all your speed, and the huge table on the black trail that you can't get any speed for and is basically impossible to clear. The first double on the black trail is fun but it's easy to go too fast into it. I recommend just going to the Kenter Whoops trail if you want to have a nice flowy run with opportunities for a few hits along the way....
It also looks like they removed the wooden drops that are shown in some of the photos/videos that I watched before going there which was kind...
