I’m truly not the type to write negative reviews, but when you’re out $4k dollars on Windows purchased from Home Depot and you start playing cat & mouse when the products weren’t as advertised, well then I will make the truth known to other customers to BE AWARE!
I recently purchased my first home (exciting right?). Well, my master bedroom faces a somewhat major street. My home that was built in 2002 already had dual pane sliding windows that did a decent job of masking off the sound from the exterior, but given the Master Bedroom facing a major street, I wanted to upgrade to the top-of-the-line option. And hence I made my way to Home Depot to inquire.
We set an appointment to have a Sales Representative come out and give some estimates. I was greeted by a George Johnson. George came up to the master bedroom and advised me to go with the Simonton brand windows (contrary to the brand I had done some research on). He confidently alleged with a few examples that once the Simonton windows were installed, that 1) I wouldn’t even hear a group of Harley Davidsons riding by, 2) I would have no idea if my gardeners were conducting landscaping in the mornings, and 3) that I’d have no idea if an Ambulance was driving by.
Trusting his experience, and using his Home Depot badge as a credible source, I decided to move forward with the installation. Approximately 2 months later, the installers came out and placed the new windows into the Master Bedroom. To my awe, as well as the amazement of the installers, they found literally NO DIFFERENCE in between the new windows compared to what I had in place….
Shocked, confused, and perplexed I called George Johnson. He remembered who I was, and reassured me that the examples he provided were accurate and that there must’ve been some mix-up in the products that were ordered and subsequently installed. After a weeks of investigation, Home Depot claimed that a few of the windows were not to the specification I had ordered. Ok, no problem! Lets get it fixed. After another 2 months, different installers came out and replaced the Windows with what were supposed to be the correct specification.
Well, once again, NO DIFFERENT from what I originally had in place. Only this time, when I contacted George about the dilemma, he (in a very stern aggressive tone) stated he never mentioned any sound proof improvements. He went further by stating “your windows that were there were old…” Well I didn’t order windows to make them “newer.” Frustrated with the whole process, I reached out to higher ups to help get this resolved. I was contacted by a Rick Orr who is the District Sales Manager. He wanted to come out and inspect the windows himself. I asked for his honest opinion to compare and contrast the new Home Depot provided windows to windows I had originally in place in another bedroom that was also facing the major street.
Upon arranging a time with Rick, I notified him I would be recording all conversations given the misleading information George Johnson had provided. He consented. He came over to the house, compared/contrasted the new windows to the old – guess what: HE AGREED! He stated that there was “no significant improvement in the windows.” He seemed sympathetic to my cause. I felt comforted by this visit, but my feelings were premature.
Rick stated he would contact me a few days later with a resolution. Well that day never came. Its been well over 2 months since his visit. I have texted him, called him, emailed him. NO RESPONSE. I called Home Depot Customer Care. Opened up a case. Again, no response. Over and over, I spend countless hours simply trying to come up with some sort of solution! Read moreWorst customer service I've ever experienced! Three months ago I purchased 2 appliances online which said they'd be delivered by the end of that month. About a week before they were to be delivered, they said it would be delayed by a month. A day before they were supposed to be delivered, home depot calls and says they're delayed another month. I cancelled the order and Lowes had a washer and dryer installed 2 days later. Apparently this specific home depot doesn't train their employees on how to correctly handle returns. I purchased a pair of pots online through homedepot.com and when I receiving them, found one of the pots had a large crack. I went to this home depot to return it and they said they couldn't take the return and that I just could return using the label that was in the box. I didn't think to ask many questions since the box did come with a return label. I have a tracking number and so know that the box made it to wherever it was shipped from. When I didn't receive the refund, I went back to this Home Depot to ask why and they told me that they shouldn't have instructed me to do that because they need to process the return. Oh, but it doesn't matter that they failed to train their employee correctly or that they misinformed a customer, they're still not issuing a refund.
