Great park, full details are in my Spring Lake Park review, but here's more... Lots of free parking in the upper lots and additional parking in the lower lots.
A playground with a rock climbing wall for the kids. Rentals of water toys; paddle boats, stand up paddle boards, life jackets, etc.
Several spots near parking lot to picnic and feed the ducks.
Fantastic path starts here to walk a 3.5 mile loop around Howarth Park, into connecting Spring Lake Park and back. Gorgeous walk with tons of trees and shade. Mostly flat with a couple small hills.
Lower Howarth has a second huge playground, with a water feature in the hot months, a make believe town, a huge climbing jungle gym and more. Large grassy lawn for play and rest. Several covered gazebos for use on a first come first serve basis.
In the warm months they have Movies in the Park held here on Friday nights. During events like movies the are food trucks available just off the lawn.
They also have a small engined train for kids to ride a short park loop and pony rides next to the station in the summer. In the upper parking lot, a concession stand opens in summer time as well.
Public restrooms are located in the upper lot, near to playground path.
In the lower lots on Summer field they have tennis courts, baseball fields.
Restaurants, and a yogurt place across the street for when you work up an appetite playing...
Read moreI come here fairly often, as my son likes walking and looking at the ducks!
The Playground keeps my 3 year-old entertained for quite a while. Unless he sees a ball. Ok, so it is nice, well designed, and has a few different parts. The main playground equipment, off to the side is a jungle gym (Look up the wikipedia for Jungle Gyms!) and off to the other side is a sand play area with "fossils" to dig up.
There are huge fields for running, soccer, tag, etc. They used to be blocked off, as the fields were in rough shape, but they regrew well and are once again open!
The walking trails are really nice as well. Except for that hill. Once up the hill, you are rewarded with a fairly nice view. You can see where water levels once were at points, and as mentioned in other reviews, the Howarth Park trail connects to the Spring Lake trail, making this a perfect spot for a morning walk before grabbing some lunch.
I highly recommend this park to anyone with a kiddo that needs to burn off some energy. Even though new studies show that children under the age of 5 have almost unlimited energy, and even may take some energy from their parents for use...
Read moreHowarth park is a great place to excape and fade out of the busy city for a couple hours. They have plenty to do if your alone or with kids and family. Multiple trails to walk, run or ride bicycle. It has multiple play areas for children to run and play, big open area's of green grass to relax or run on. There is also a good size pond of around 10 acres give or take to fish or feed the ducks and geese. I'm 41 now and have very enjoyable fond memories of the park as a child running around and playing. I also enjoy that the park is open 24 hours if you like to go for walks at midnight or cat fishing. The reason for the four stars and not five is because late night there is a small group of persons who stay the night in the north part of the park by the baseball field and tennis courts. They do not bother people, but would be nice if the park had more lights in and around that area of the park. A flashlight works great if you like to go for late night walks or running because the trails can be very dark on moonless night. Overall the park is a very nice setting to get outdoors for the...
