WARNING
I brought several items in for consignment, one of which was pretty expensive for an average person like me. It was originally a gift.
First I kept receiving emails about someone else's items. This continued for a while despite me saying that isn't me. I had to drive out of my way to show up in person for them to fix the error.
About 2-3 months go by. I didn't receive any notifications about my items selling. And frankly, I didn't trust them given their incompetence in the past. I kindly asked if I could pick them up. They said that I could on 6/1. On 5/28 I received a message from my brother about my dad who had cancer. I had to fly out to NY and stayed for over a week because he passed while I was there. Arrangements had to be made.
When I got back to CA, It completely left my mind that I had to pick up the clothes. You could imagine why. I did not receive ANY heads up that they were going to just donate my items. It would have taken less than a minute to send a quick email or make a call. I've worked in customer service. This is what I would have said: "Good afternoon, Kim. We were scheduled for pickup today but didn't see you. We hope everything is okay! Please let us know if you'd like to reschedule your pickup. Unfortunately if items aren't picked up in (insert time here) we would have to donate them. We currently don't have the storage space to hold items longer, as much as we'd love to. We look forward to hearing from you." Do you see the difference? Yea. That's called good customer service which I received countless 5 star reviews for (feel free to message me for proof. I'd include them here but would have to dig for them. It was years ago)
If I had received that courtesy, I would have asked my husband to pick the clothes up for me. He couldn't go with me to NY due to work and would have happily picked them up here in CA.
How do you literally just donate someone's stuff with no notification? Stuff they brought you to sell, giving YOU profit off of THEM when they could have easily sold on Poshmark? I wanted to support a local business. I now sell on Poshmark instead.
When I eventually remembered about my clothes, I asked to pick it up. That is when we exchanged an extremely terse email thread. They DO NOT care about you. At all. Don't take my word for it. Scroll through the MANY other negative reviews from consigners on Yelp.
I was working with a client who was downsizing her clothes closet, and came to Sisters Consignment to drop off some clothing. The owner was very helpful in terms of setting up an account and keeping my client informed when her items sold.
Sisters has very stylish pieces, and everything is in good condition. Check them out!
P.S. It’s necessary to make an appointment to bring clothing in for consignment....
