Hawk Hill/Marin Headlands holds a special place in my heart. Every time I go there, I'm amazed by the stunning views and reflect on the beauty and fragility of life. You can drive through the tunnel and follow the road all the way to the top of Hawk Hill, where there is ample parking. On a clear day, the views from the parking lot of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco skyline, and the ocean are truly breathtaking. Even on a foggy day, there's a special charm to Hawk Hill, as you patiently wait for the fog to clear and reveal the wonders that lie beyond. If you're up for a small challenge, there's a 1.6-mile trail from Hawk Hill to the Golden Gate Bridge viewpoint. The trail is hilly and narrow, so be careful. When you reach the viewpoint, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Sausalito, and Treasure Island. Ever wondered where to see the SF skyline centered right in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge? All taken here! East you get to see SF and then if you walk to the top and go past the tunnels, you can enjoy the serene Marin headlands and ocean. You get two views for one place. Land's End is also so interesting to see from the other side.

This is a wonderful option for taking family that can't go down steep hills anymore. We parked shortly before the roundabout and it was a gentle walk up and back down.

Tips: bring layers and carry them with you. We started at 4:30, some in short sleeves, and then at the top we waited for the sunset (not until 6) and those without layers got cold standing still.
