Yes, there is a reason that many many pictures of the golden gate look similar. Most tourist photos are taken from three different parking locations on the Marin headlands and this location is at the top of the grade near Battery 129 and "Hawk Hill". Parking is limited and can be crowded at times and the public safety personal assist in emptying the parking area after sunsets. The views are fantastic. Walking through Battery 128 is interesting and the short hike to the observation deck on the summit can provide...

This is a great place to take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge and of the Ocean. You can even see Alcatraz Island from here. It’s a short drive about 20 minutes. The traffic on the weekend is pretty heavy so take that into account when you’re planning your trip. Afterwards you can drive across the Golden Gate Bridge for more photo opportunities. Well worth the drive up. Lovely views of the bridge bay and city. Times I have been there has been fairly easy parking but can imagine it fills up quickly. But folks mostly do a photo op a brief walk and then move on. Signage to get there sketchy so just keep heading up hill when given a choice. We did it from Muir Woods since u head out that way (one way out of parking area)....

Well worth the drive up. Lovely views of the bridge bay and city. Times I have been there has been fairly easy parking but can imagine it fills up quickly. But folks mostly do a photo op a brief walk and then move on. Signage to get there sketchy so just keep heading up hill when given a choice. We did it from Muir Woods since u head out that way (one way out of parking area). Very pretty
