Early mornings yielded light crowds and with the park lights on, additional running lights were not necessary. Loop includes a soft / padded inner and paved outer. Plenty of well lit parking available. The park itself opens at 8 but running loop is always open. No bathrooms before park opens so keep that in mind and no dogs on running loop. Read moreWhenever we have a long run to do, this is kinda our go to. We can put our nutrition and hydration in the truck and pick it up every other lap. We are training for a 50 mile run at Stevie's Roost in September, which is a loop trail course. Lake Mayer is each lap is 1.5 miles, so we can train the way we are going to do the race. When you run here, there are sooo many amazing folks that it would be difficult not to be inspired as you do your training. The only bad part is that the bathrooms don't open until 8am and most of our runs start at 7. Even seen a softshell turtle......
